Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

What the play-offs mean for us next season

No trip to Elgin or Hampden for us next season, with Albion Rovers knocking Elgin City out and Stranraer beating Queen's Park. Here's hoping Albion Rovers can do the business against Stranraer in the final and save us the tedious journey to Stair Park!
We'll be going back to Gayfield next term (Ok by me!) with the Lichties losing to Dumbarton, and there's also two trips to Ayr after the Honest Men were knocked out by Airdrie. Now, what would you prefer from those two finalists - both Airdrie and Dumbarton are rather unpleasant places to visit from my recent experience! Personally, I don't mind who eventually comes out on top from that one.
Of course, we already knew we'd be going back to Alloa (which I personally don't mind one bit!) and then there's two long trips down to Dumfries (long journey, but nice enough ground and the locals were fine).

Don't think it's the mileage on these trips we have to worry about Jim.

Ayr and QoS will be looking to bounce right back and Arbroath with whoever loses from Airdrie and Dumbarton will be looking to make a mends for missing out in the playoffs this year.

If we can get a good preseason under our belt then we should be challenging these clubs though.

Re: What the play-offs mean for us next season

Ayr United
Queen of the South
Arbroath
Stenhousmuir
East Fife
Forfar Athletic
Brechin City
Alloa Athletic

and either
Airdrie United or Dumbarton

and either
Stranraer or Albion Rovers

Unlike this, recently ended, season where I thought 4 place was the minimum expectation for Linn, Wallace and Co., I reckon that the top four next season will be made up of four from QoS, Ayr, Arbroath, Airdrie or Dumbarton and Alloa. 6th again ? Have to hope Forfar and Brechin have poor seasons again too.

Could be wrong

Re: What the play-offs mean for us next season

ayr and qots will loose there better players so i dont think theyll be as daangerous as first thought i think well easy make the plat offs if airdrie dont go up theyll win the league with ef alloa and either ayr or qots in play offs and hopefully raith to

Fair points Benitez (and the other posts too). My post was more about which grounds you prefer to visit, but yes, we obviously have to consider the quality of the opposition too.
