Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

home/ away

Prejudiced I am, but why is it that our away support is the best in the league and pro rata as good as anyone's anywhere and yet the home support......? I know its the same for all teams who have a decent away support but we seem to be an extreme. I'm sure we would have been in the play offs if...........

Re: home/ away

It's not just us, believe me I've heard the same from Pars, Hibs, Hearts and other fans.

Re: home/ away

I think you would find all fans of all clubs would say the same thing.
By the very nature that a fan is willing to pay more and give more time to travel to away games suggests that their level of loyalty is greater to the cause, than someone only willing to go to home games.

However we can not generalise too much. Basically its just one or two idiots who go to Bayview.
The fans who go to away games make up a substantial proportion of the "home" support after all!

Corrected it for you (and answered your question about why our fans moan at home). Apart from Moffat's success on the shoestring budget and then us buying the Third Division title with Gray's money, we've underperformed season after season while others like Cowden leave us in their wake. That'd go some way to explaining it I suppose.

It's simple really. The vast majority of other teams grounds are a thousand times better than ours. Better atmosphere, more options to either sit or stand, banter with other fans, just an overall more enjoyable experience/day out. We have to be totally honest here and admit that Bayview is a dire place to go and watch football. Always freezing cold, over-priced, uncomfortable seats and an atmosphere that is basically non-existant. It never surprises me that there are hardly any visiting fans to Bayview. Can't really blame them. We really need terracing asap.

Re: home/ away

So ma youngest laddie goes with me to all the away matches that we can make on the bus... The crack is good, the company is good, the atmosphere is good; in short away days are feckin Barry...... However I do go the home games but ma laddie does not primarily due to many of the reasons highlighted in this thread.... Pretty sad really but it's reality.... Something drastic needs to be done fast to attract the youngsters back to home games because there are many that feel the same... Continue like this then we are on the road where for many a season to come with an ever dwindling support!... Ma biggest bug bear of New Bayview.... It's friggin freezing....the last home match... It's was May... When I got home ma nuts were still blue!

Re: home/ away

I detest New Bayview.
More atmosphere on the moon and its bloody freezing.
Don't go much because of this.

Re: home/ away

'Road where' in my post above should have read 'road to nowhere'
