Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

forum access

I work for Fife Council and whenever I try to access this forum from a council PC I'm getting told that my IP address is blocked. Can someone from AFTN tell me why this?I'm hoping its not because of one council employed idiot being blocked because since our internet connection goes through a proxy server, blocking the one IP would stop everyone from getting access.

Re: forum access

It may be that because the site allows sweary words and stuff that is not suitable for everyone's eyes, that your work is blocking it. I know another civil service lot that block their employees.

I'm not an expert on this though so maybe GoF can call it better!

Re: forum access

It's a Bravenet page that says the IP is blocked and to speak to the administrator. I need some way of spending my breaks!

Re: forum access

U used to be able to get onto site but the internal IT dept seem to have upgraded the fire. It always blocked more obvious social network/forums but it seemto have extended that recently.

Re: forum access

DIB,

What other sites have you been trying to access from the council PC. If you are too shy to tell everyone fair enough. However here is the way around it. Hold end, tab and Ctl down you should then get a black screen flash for about half a second you will then get a small red or green box in the top left corner. Click on it and it will bring up a box called delex config route 1 type in 3yp990rt and hit return. This should allow you to skip the block and will let you search for AFTN and pick it up the only problem is you have to do it each time you access it. If you find it doesn't work just get back to your f"u7ing job as your break will be over and your boss will come and ride you around the room.

Re: forum access

Try working for a change , rather than trying to go onto a football website ,Do this at home in yer own feckin time , not the councils .

Re: forum access

Ah silly me, there was me thinking full time workers who pay council tax themselves were entitled to breaks like the rest of the working population.

They are of course, but why should they be entitled to use internet access paid for by the general population? What you are actually saying is that all of the council tax payers should have that right, because they pay towards the facility.

Re: forum access

They do, make your way to your local library and you can have your free internet access. They're hardly going to turn off a connection that's permanently on every lunch time. It costs the same whether people on their break use it or not. It's no wonder people get fed up with this forum. can't remember the last time a thread sticking to the original topic and didn't get someone changing the subject for a good moan.
