Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Euro confusion

Is it just me or am I going mad. The news is going on about racism in Ukraine and Poland at the football, England players and manager have commented on it. But if I remember correctly they have a player in their squad who is accused of racism. They have also snubbed Rio Ferdinand when they lost a centre half and the head of the FA said he doesn't want to talk about it. Confused ! Yes how the hell do they get away with that and the Media just roll along with it...... I don't give a toss about how they get on not bothered however they are getting away with murder there !

The difference is that the authorities in places like Ukraine and Poland routinely turn a blind eye to the racism that is pretty widespread in society there. People just seem to get away with it and nobody seems to give a shit, least of all politicians or the police.

John Terry is a pretty loathsome individual but he was arrested and has been charged with racially abusing another person. That would not have happened in many places in eastern Europe where black people experience all sorts of horrible things that perpertrators would just not get away with here. Terry I agree though should not have been selected with a court case hanging over him and in any case its disgraceful that his hearing has not happened before now.

Yes we still have a long way to here to eradicate racism and hate crime in general here and things are far from perfect but we are nowhere near as bad as other places.
