Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Gareth Wardlaw

Gareth has put pen to paper for Easr Fife.

Re: Gareth Wardlaw

Nice one!.. Delighted with that!

Re: Gareth Wardlaw

Brilliant news. Hopefully Gareth and Shagger form a formidable partnership.

Re: Gareth Wardlaw

great player at this level prooved goalscorer squad shaping up nicely 4 next season

Re: Gareth Wardlaw

Brief article with career details uploaded to the Official Website

Re: Gareth Wardlaw

For anyone new to AFTN, please be advised that, any time now a Raith Rovers fan will come on and tell us that he was shite when he played for them. It's kind of a tradition...

Re: Gareth Wardlaw

To truth hurts but yes he was pish when with us

For anyone new to AFTN, please be advised that, any time we sign a player/s some East Fife fan will come on and tell you that we have the best squad in the league and should be challenging for the title. It's kind of a tradition...

Re: Gareth Wardlaw

And the winner of the sweep is ... 18 minutes.

For anyone new to AFTN, Raith Rovers fans consider themselves to have a brilliant team yet every player who has ever played for them is shite. Can't quite tally the two things myself.

Oh, and they put ha-ha smilies at the end of their posts regardless of there being no evidence of any humour anywhere in the post.

Re: Gareth Wardlaw

Good news!

Have you been hovering over your keyboard for a few weeks now on an East Fife forum (in the close season too) just waiting for a reference to your beloved Linos? Well, have you punk?

Sad twat.

Re: Gareth Wardlaw

Happy with that one!!

Re: Gareth Wardlaw

Excellent signing. McManus and Wardlaw should be a very good front two for the second division

Re: Gareth Wardlaw

Welcome to Bayview Gareth ! Should be a good partnership with Shagger and a fully fit Scott Dalziel will give us options. We now need a couple of wide players to provide the ammunition for the strikers. Matty Park for the left side ? Hopefully another 4 good signings to help us challenge in what will be a difficult league this year. Well done to the board and the manager for the signings so far.

Re: Gareth Wardlaw

Matty Park would be a brilliant signing, hopefully he can get his knee sorted out this summer.

Re: Gareth Wardlaw

To be fair he's a good player-I think it was us v pars game where he broke his arm (whilst playing a blinder) and never featured again. Would take him back in the first, will easily do a good job for you.

Re: Gareth Wardlaw

Not sure how this season will be harder than last.....dont think any of last seasons Div2 teams are stronger(arbroath probably weaker minus swankie, samuel, falkingham etc).
Hopefully a good wide player who can cross a ball from open play and corners and we should improve on last season.

In Gord We Trust!

QoS are staying full time and Ayr Utd will always be contenders in division 2. Both of those teams I believe are better than Cowdenbeath and Dumbarton. Alloa have replaced a poor Stirling Albion which really gives the league a greater depth than last season. We are going to have to improve considerably on last season if we are to have any chance of making the top four.

Re: Gareth Wardlaw

i mentioned last seasons DIV 2 TEAMS ! dont think they are stronger than last season. As for the 2 coming down from the 1st divsion then both have replaced their management teams and have also lost players so hopefully they'll take time to settle in div 2

hopefully this season we can see a stronger team at bayview and ALL the fans getting behind the players

did wordlaw not also disslicate his elbow or sholder or something like that when we played yous a starks park thought he looked good that game a handfull for our defense

Re: Gareth Wardlaw

When Jim Moffat was manager he was keen to sign Gareth but he went to Ayr Utd.

Re: Gareth Wardlaw

Bayview Bob - you are dead right he did sustain a bad injury that day when having one of his best games in a Rovers jersey.

McGlynn never gave him a chance at the Rovers but think he will be a really good signing for you guys.

Him and McManus up front must be one of the best pairings in the second division.

Re: Gareth Wardlaw

Great news. At last!

Re: Gareth Wardlaw

Good player, never got a chance with us.

Re: Gareth Wardlaw

good signing, always felt the guy works his socks of for the teams he's played for, maybe out of his depth at st mirren, still good signing for us.

Re: Gareth Wardlaw

If fit, he'll be a great player for you guys. When he was with us, he was outstanding. Scored plenty of goals and chased everything. Will give 100% - no doubt about that.

Delighted with this news, been desprate for us to snap up some new players ahead of a tough leauge with alloa, air and Doonhamers. With options now in attack aswell in defence, I can't wait to see this patnership with wardlaw and shagger does.
Also with someone mentioning Park would boost our midfield and Samuel give us another attacking option too would be great adds to the squad that is currently looking decent, well done Gordon and the club.

Re: Gareth Wardlaw

Good signing, a player (amongst many)who was a thorn in our side over the years whilst at Cowden, looking forward to the partnership with McManus.Vince and my other Cowden pal still rate him highly, here's hoping we can do a Cowden for a change and win the league, we have far more at our disposal than they have ever had bar the team on the pitch.

Re: Gareth Wardlaw

Still need a 2-3 quality players to push for the play offs, nevermind the title. No going to build my hopes up like last season. Much tougher league and surely QOS will be favs as they remain fulltime and Ayr are always there or thereabouts. Mon the Fife!

Re: Gareth Wardlaw

QoS reported a loss of more than £1m for year ended 31.05.10 and that was before a period of a couple of months without a home game due to bad weather.
Full time ? How ?
