Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

injuries and signings

Does anyone know if paul mcmanus or robert sloan have any chance of being fit for the trip to ibrox. Also will cookie be back from the united states.Whats the position with samuel if he didnt have something better lined up he would have signed by now.He probably wont be able to play at ibrox as a trilist.Even a short term deal better than nothing. Our bench on saturday looked well short of expierience. We could be doing with a few additions to the squad especially if we get a horrific run of injuries like last year. How many games is whytie to miss.

Re: injuries and signings

McManus major doubt for Ibrox. He`s running but not match fit.

Re: injuries and signings

Spoke to paul on friday he said that he was going to start training next week. He said he would work hard to be fit for rangers game. We need all our 1st team squad for this trip to pull off something special so hope sloan, mcmanus, white can all make it. How many tickets have we sold ?

Re: injuries and signings

I'd much rather see Paul take his time and make sure he is fully fit for the league campaign than rush back for the chance to play Rangers and potentially injure himself all over again.

Re: injuries and signings

Just found something on a website for triandad and tobago is he signed or what now?

Samuel bags winner' for new Club
SUNDAY, 29 JULY 2012 06:59 INSHAN MOHAMMED HITS: 223

Only recently signed by Scottish team East Fife and only his first official game for his new team and Collin Samuel is already making his a name for himself.

Samuel scored the winning item in the 54th minute to help East Fife defeat hosts Peterhead to clinch a 2-1 win in the first round of the Ramsdens Cup at the Balmoor Stadium.

Midfielder Scott McBride, who had signed for Fife earlier this month as well, put his new club ahead with a well-taken 10th minute penalty after Callum MacDonald, who was subsequently yellow-carded, had brought down Gareth Wardlaw.

The visitors doubled their lead eight minutes into the second half when Collin Samuel headed in Craig Johnstone's inviting cross from 12 yards.

Peterhead pressed in the closing stages of the tie and reduced the arrears in the 75th minute when Rory McAllister rifled home from the left-hand edge of the six-yard box but it was too little, too late.

Samuel was subsequently subbed out in the 84th minute for Robert Malcolm giving the player a rest in time for August 7th Scottish Communities League Cup clash with The Rangers FC.

Samuel became the second player from Trinidad and Tobago to have played for East Fife. Arnold Dwarika was also there from 1995 – 1997. The high scoring midfielder racked up 9 goals in 46 appearances for the club.

East Fife currently plays in the Scottish Second Division which gets on the way on August 11; Alloa Athletic will be their first opponent. Samuel contract details were not disclosed.

Meanwhile, Collin Samuel last played for his country on June 6th, 2009 against Costa Rica in a World Cup qualifier at the Dwight Yorke Stadium. Samuel scored a 63rd minute item after Carlos Edwards opener in the 30th for T&T, however, Costa Rica rallied from behind to win the game 3-2 with 2 late second half goals.

Samuel was never called up again despite having a good run out for the Soca Warriors.

If he is signed then I'm very happy he's joined the rest of the players for the season ahead, we haven't got a big squad but we could do with him and malcolm with the expereience in the team, I hope we can make more signings though should injuries creep in but I'm overall delighted if this is true then...

Mon The Fife Roll on Tuesday 7th now!
