Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Reconstruction

TWO DIVISIONS
60/40 GATE SPLIT
NO LIVE TV IF ANY LEAGUE GAMES BEING PLAYED.

Re: Reconstruction

Whilst it would make it more competive i don't think the bigger teams would want to share the home gate with the away team. I would rather we had 3 divs of 14 with play offs and pyramid system for non league sides. Summer football introduced would also benefit our teams in Europe. I suppose anything would be better than the current system tho. We need to sort our game out now, it's a shambles and crowds will continue to drop.

Dph.
Agree anything other than what we have now. Scottish football was doing pretty well with the two division system with 50/50 gate split. It's not thalong ago that David Murray and ferguson McCann bullied the powers that be to change to keeping home gates. Don't know about you but I liked that bigger league as you played more teams, not the repetitiveness we have now. The gate split for me is necessary to have a handicap system. Teams like Aberdeen, hearts , Hibs and Dundee would benefit and improve their challenge at the top.
Should clubs have to be £9milion in debt to challenge when if there was no live Tv the gates would go up giving the clubs more money on the day!!

I'm not saying that the smaller clubs could challenge, but we all deserve the right to be playing at the bigger grounds in the first division ( if we had the two)

Rovers, Morton, Falkirk, Livi, Patrick, etc should be playing league football at these grounds. 60/40 split with no live tv is the way. We did have the two divisions up until late 70's and it was great going Motherwell, Pittodrie, Tyncastle etc. in between we went to Gayfield, bog heed and maryhill. Now that's the real Scottish football, not the elitist system we have now.

Re: Reconstruction

Clubs should split gate money 50/50 after season tickets. Is that what used to happen? Then people might be encouraged to buy season tickets if they knew all of it would go to their club. And it's only fair that away teams get a cut, there's two teams playing.

At last, some else has seen the light. Thanks Bob Agg.
