Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

It is time.

It is time this current regime (board) took a long hard look and themselves and decided which direction they would like the club to go!
We hear lots of tales of Columbine just in it for the jacket and i`m sure certain board members are just there for the sake of being there".
As a keen East Fife supporter for over 40 years i`m disillusioned with the current set up, the soul-less stadium and a a board that simply don't seem interested.
How many more rookie managers are we going to go through until one of them clicks? I appreciate Durie has a fine pedigree but is it really fair on the man or the fans to be under so much pressure to simply move forward? We have done absolutely nothing since Baikie was forced out and if this current squad are anything to go buy we're getting worse...much worse! The manager simply has to accept responsibility for signing these players. They are at best lower third division quality and that is exactly where we are heading, no doubt about it.
The "real fans" will no doubt disagree but then we`ve already established on here that most of them are young and don't know any better.
Depending on the outcome of league reconstruction, we go down, Rangers come up and we miss 4 huge games next season. That in my eyes is unforgivable and a sign that those at senior level in our club should move on to make way for people with ambition.
Dunfermline, Raith Rovers and Cowdenbeath just love us as their poor relations. We are fast becoming a joke.

Discuss.

Re: It is time.

We will not have 4 big games against Rangers next season! Even if we did end up in the same division the two games at Bayview would host 4000 people at the most & the two games at Ibrox we gain nothing from the admission money! It was great to get half the gate money from a cup tie but where's the gain in playing a league game at Ibrox?
Rangers will be in the second tier of Scottish football without fail imo.
League reconstruction will see a second tier with a minimum of 6000 capactity stadia which low & behold not enough of the current First division clubs have so who's next in line to step up? Rangers! Will Queen's Park be invited up? Will they f<*%
Its pish, its shite, its downright unfair but with the amount of concessions that have been made to Sevco already, its about right!

Re: It is time.

We need to stay up or risk losing some more of the few fans we have left. Fuck Rangers, I don't care if we play them or not. They shouldn't feature in our reasons for wanting to stay in the division.

While I agree with most of the post, I have to take the manager's side on the above remarks. He can only sign players of the standard that the board will pay for, or is able to pay for.

Re: It is time.

Couldn`t give a fuck about the Rangers games. More importantly i agree about the board and there complete lack of ambition and communication with the fans. From what i have seen this season we are 3rd div bound, no doubt about it. I know fans are sick of all the negativity on this forum about us just now but lets face it, we are rank rotten and some/most of the players are simply not good enough to play for East Fife. Yes, Durie and Chisolm brought these players in but they can only piss with what they`ve got. I hope we can pick ourselves up and the board screw the nut or we will have just a few supporters left and that`s the small mob who have nothing better to do on a Sat afternoon. Won`t be at Stranraer on Sat but good luck to the team all the same.

In the land of the blind the one eyed man is king.

This board must go!
