Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Well Done

Well done to the team and staff on a great performance . Every player worked hard and apart from a 15 min spell we looked in control. Barr and Mcmanus looked better up front and shagger could have had hatrick. The bck 4 defended well and the midfield worked hard to get the ball bck. great result and well done to the staff for the selection today. Im away to get peeved

very positive Tam to the team. No many people are on this site, hopefully the confidence among our team will grow and that will drive our side away from the bottom, this is what we are needing and our first win at home has finally arrivied. Mon The Fife!

Re: Well Done

Great 3 points especially with Brechin and Albion Rovers also winning. Started very positively and it looked good when Fotheringham stamped on Forster and got himself red carded. Deservedly went ahead with a powerful header by Div Muir from a Willis corner. Started the second half brightly and Stoney might have got a second but scooped the ball over the bar. The longer the game went on we seemed to tire and allowed Forfar too much possession and to dictate play as we started to defend deeper and deeper. They hit the post before Callum Antell made a great save to tip a header over the bar. By this time the Fife players were looking nervy and we stopped passing the ball. When Smith replaced Stoney he linked well with Barr and drove a shot across the keeper into the bottom corner of the net. This seemed to settle the nerves and we then began to pass the ball better and stretch the game by getting the ball wide. Shagger then finished off a good move down the right when the ball fell into his path and he buried it.
For a period in the second half it was difficult to tell which team had the 10 men but these things are going to happen when confidence is low and players are very cautious but desperate to hold onto a lead. We started to defend deeper and deeper inviting Forfar to dictate play. The defence looked a little more solid today although I felt a bit sorry for Daz McCormack at times as he played at left back despite being right footed and the crowd got on his back a couple of times when he passed square or put it out the park. Div Muir has one of his best games in a Fife shirt and it was good to have Stoneys dig back in the side. 3-0 is a good result but we need to be a bit more clinical in front of goal as we won't always get as many chances. Shagger twice had one on ones with the keeper and both times shot straight at Soutar. It was good to see him eventually get on the scoresheet. Only Bobby Barr will be able to tell us what he tried to do when he was through on goal !!!
All in all a good afternoons work and a hard fought 3 points. Hopefully the boys can take a bit of confidence from the win, scoring 3 goals and keeping a clean sheet. It was also good to see Brian McNaughton going mental at Div when he back headed to ball to the keeper without looking behind him. To me this showed that he cares and he wanted to make sure that the players knew he wasn't happy and that they wouldn't do the same again. Well done to all concerned - pity it's another three weeks till the next home game but might to to Elgin in two weeks. C'mon the Fife
