Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

League reconstruction

Hope the club are going to speak against the 12-12-18 proposal on the table. The SPL are basically sneaking through the SPL 2 they wanted and saying stuff the rest of the clubs. An 18 team bottom League will see so many meaningless fixtures halfway through the season that clubs will cease to exist within 3 or 4 years - is this what the 'big' clubs want ? More than likely !

Re: League reconstruction

Latest now is 12-12-10-10 with two more teams joining the league. Given that we already have 12-10-10-10 I can't see much of a difference there.

Re: League reconstruction

Holy Christ! We're fed up playing the same teams over and over, We therefore need bigger leagues. Can someone - anyone - tell me why that's so fecking difficult for them to understand.

Re: League reconstruction

An 18 team league would be a disaster for some clubs! Unless your doing well the season could pretty much be over by Xmas resulting in even worse crowds than now. 14-14-14, with equal promotions-relegations in each div with play offs and pyramid system for non league teams who want to challenge for place in senior league. Simple. Scrap this 6000 all seater pish for top league aswell.

Re: League reconstruction

The old First and Second Divisions contained many 'meaningless' games but you were there to watch the football and support your club.

Was that when prices were reasonable and we had a stadium? An 18 team league with no pyramid system would be brutal imo.

Re: League reconstruction

Fans should be demanding a fairer pricing structure as part of the deal, If more money is trickling down to 2nd and third tier teams then financially sound clubs should be able to reduce prices.
