Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Reserve League Cup

The next Reserve League Cup match against Raith Rovers will take place at Bayview Stadium on Tuesday 19th February 2013 with a 7.30pm kick off.
The cost will be £5.00 for adults and children will be admitted free when accompanied by an adult.

Re: Reserve League Cup

This tournament is in a two-section format, East and West.
East Fife to play in a five team section along with Cowdenbeath, Raith, Livingston and Stenhousemuir. Play each other twice, home and away. Top two qualify for the knock out semi-finals.

Re: Reserve League Cup

Sounds a good format, bit like the old League Cup sections.. Worth trying again for 1st team football?

Re: Reserve League Cup

Always liked this format. Shades of 1964 beating linos at Starks, getting hammered by them in second game at home. Managed to qualify for 2 games against Forfar in play off, away Monday at home Wednesday, results 3-4 and 4-1. (Fife scores first) Then played Celtic home win 2-0 (my voice broke that night)only to get hammered 6-0 in return leg. Point is it did not matter if we won each game, players tried 100 per cent every game, irrespective of their ability. How could they not give their all with players like Jake Young and Jim Walker ready to boot their arses for anything less. Happy days.
I think older supporters like Bob Moyes wil remember seasons like this. Also another old friend of mine and Fife supporter Dave Mirtle who used to live in Kirkland Road.

Happy Days.

Re: Reserve League Cup

There is some TV footage of the 6-0 2nd leg game on You Tube Bob (shame it wasn't the 1st game!). Slightly before my time but guys like Andy Waddell and George Dewar who I later did see were playing. Still, great to see an EF team from that period on the screen wearing a proper East Fife kit. BTW our keeper had a 'mare being at fault for about 4 of the goals.

Re: Reserve League Cup

can you put a link up for these highlights as I would love to see them, cheers.

Here you go it's actually really good, a full 10 minutes worth. We looked pretty confident at the start but the 1st goal was such a howler from the keeper and it was downhill from there on in.

Re: Reserve League Cup

Unable to access your link is there any other way that I can see them?

Re: Reserve League Cup

Go on to You Tube type in Celtic v East Fife and it should be there.
