Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Under 14s V Scotland Boys Club

East Fife's under 14's are playing Friday 15th of March at Bayview against Scotland Boys Club. The game kicks off at 7.30 and it's also free entry. It would be great for fans to come along and support East Fife's youngest talent!

Re: Under 14s V Scotland Boys Club

Lets get behind the boys! This is where it all starts for the future !!

Re: Under 14s V Scotland Boys Club

Exactly, lets all try and get along and watch the future of the club.....hopefully we will see a few wee gems in there.

Free entry after all, quite looking forward to this now!!

Re: Under 14s V Scotland Boys Club

All credit to the under East Fife under 14's for playing against a team that fielded under 16's. Everyone will agree that there can be a massive difference in a 13 year old and a 15/16 year old. This was supposed to be a friendly game but they obviously felt that they needed to cheat to win. Very sad state of affairs to do that.

Don't be disheartened guys you did well and at least you played honestly.

Unfair

But it was Scotland boys club they were playing not the under 14s?

Re: Under 14s V Scotland Boys Club

Yes supposed to be East Fife Pro Youth against Scotland Boys Club at under 14 level and Scotland Boys Club fielded 16's.

Re: Under 14s V Scotland Boys Club

there were no 16s playing for scotland against east fife 14s all these lads that played for scotland boy & girl clubs were born in 1998/99 when the trials took place and when the fixture was arranged east fife youth development management new this it was not scotlands fault that east fife decided to play younger players but all credit to the boys from east fife who i thought gave a very good performence of themselfs against a very good scotland side and were a credit to scottish youth football and east fife f.c.

Re: Under 14s V Scotland Boys Club

watched eastfife u14s play raith rovers u14s yesterday at cupar, raith won 7or8 nothing against a no bad east fife team that matched them in the 1st half hour, shaggers wee cuz makeing his debut scored a cracker and set up a couple, for the rovers, the 2 centre halfs for both teams where both giants but the wee guys from both teams where in amongst them ,good game despite the score.

Re: Under 14s V Scotland Boys Club

Sticking my own name in now.

Spoke to a guy from a team from Dundee that had five or 6 players in the team. I was fishing about the age of the players and he was evasive so I asked him straight if they were 14-15 or 15-16 and he said they were 15-16.

The "management" knew nothing about the age difference - they would not have played with that difference. The game was arranged for U14's and Scotland Boys Club decided to play older players. Many parents were angered by this as were the "management".

You know that it was unfair and underhand to do this, it was supposed to be a friendly after all.

Re: Under 14s V Scotland Boys Club

I would like to set the record straight re our recent game v east fife.We are a 14's team and all boys were born in 1998 and the east fife youth management were fully informed about that.As for the comments from "lesley" that someone, all be it anonymous ,had told her that that dundee united sc players were u16's is just rubbish. This team are again in the semi final of the scottish cup (finalist last year)and are a high profile club, so come on get real.It is true that one of our squad plays in the u16's, our no 11 on the night, and also one of the smallest on the park, but his d o b is 05-09-98 which makes him just 14 and a half. We were only informed just as we kicked of that we were up against u14's and some u15's. This does us no good as the score line suggests but well done to east fife players for sticking in there and we wish them all the best for the future. We have a good working relationship with pro youth managers and would never willingly deceive anyone.I hope this clears this situation up and we can all now move on.

Re: Under 14s V Scotland Boys Club

Now we've established it was a level playing field age wise, what was the actual score?

Re: Under 14s V Scotland Boys Club

East Fife won 12-0 and felt that the Boy's Club fielding over 19's kept the score down.

Re: Under 14s V Scotland Boys Club

Cyp 7 east fife 0
