Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Saturdays game versus Stranraer - The football version

The other "Stranraer" thread has deteriorated and digressed.
How do we win this vital game - ON THE FIELD?
Muir out so back to a flat back 4?
Or if Campbell fit, stick with back 3 and wing backs?
Midfield almost picks itself, but what strikers?
BB has to get this one right and the players (every single one) have to be right up for it.
Every 50-50, every 2nd ball, defend and attack every set piece.

We "pumped" them up here last home game and left with nothing.
This time all 3 points is a must.

Lets play our part too.

"How do we win this vital game?"

Score more goals than them. Doesn't matter how we do it.

Re: Saturdays game versus Stranraer - The football version

Last time Stranraer came to bayview they parked the bus,and im sure they will be thinking a draw would do them fine.Surely the players will be ready to give it their all, as i dont even want to contemplate what a defeat would mean. One thing that worries me is our lack of goals, and the tempo of our play when we attack the opposition.Agree we need to be sharp and up the tempo and fight for every ball.Billy brown has a decision to make,do we go 442 or play 352,like we have last couple of games.I have a feeling stranraer will sit in, so we need width and our wide men will be the key to open them up.Up front i still think we need a bit of height,so id play jamieson and mcmanus. The elements will play a part as strong winds forecast,so i dont think we will see great football.Im sure we have the better players, but attitude, and doing the ugly side of football just as important.Having said all that, the season doesnt rest on just one game, there will be a few twists and turns to come.As billy brown says our luck has to turn, lets all hope its tommorow,COME ON THE FIFE.

I'm driving through from the west for the game. how is the weather through there. We're expecting a lot of snow. Any doubts?

Re: Saturdays game versus Stranraer - The football version

Very cold with wee flurries of snow but nothing lying. Don't know what condition the pitch is in, but there's a really strong wind blowing which may keep the ACTUAL temperature above freezing; however, with the wind chill factor it currently feels like its well below zero!!

Thanks for that. I'll keep an eye on here in the morning.
