Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Memories of AFTN

First of all, I've only been following the club for the past 5 years so i obviously don't know the history of this Forum. How it started and by who etc...

Anyone got any funny stories or memories of classic threads? Is there anyway of looking at old threads say, when we won the league?

Bit of a depressing place lately so it would be nice to see a bit of humor.

Cheers to the men and woman who keep this forum running

Re: Memories of AFTN

This has the potential to be a good thread.

How about the name "Away from the numbers"? How did that come about?

Away from the Numbers is the title of a Jam song so i`m assuming Gof is a bit of a Jam fan.

The Jam were a great band.

Re: Memories of AFTN

I have quite a few of the printed editions somewhere in the loft.

Connie Cowden; what a girl!

Re: Memories of AFTN

Kinda weird to think that AFTN is 25 years old next year!

Yup, the name was taken from The Jam song. When I first started the fanzine it was called "The Bayview Bulletin" for the first five issues, but I was never happy with that and wanted something snappier. Looking through my record collection for inspiration, and seeing as we didn't have much of a crowd at the time (and still don't!) it seemed a natural fit. It also meant we were listed right at the top of all the various fanzine listings!

The forum started in 2004 I think. Threads are archived back to Feb 2006 and there's about 134,000 posts. Use the page counter at the top to get back to the end or search for anything that takes your fancy about the happier times.

One of my all time favourite threads on here was the Terry Lawrence one in July 2008!

Still makes me laugh: http://pub10.bravenet.com/forum/static/show.php?usernum=849684916&frmid=8&msgid=1156173&cmd=show

Re: Memories of AFTN

Gof,classic stuff from the good old days of AFTN,no miserable creeps lurking on every thread.Remember though that Terry responded on a thread titled "Foreign Supporter".

Re: Memories of AFTN

Re: Memories of AFTN

My life is in turmoil at the moment. I spent all last week thinking about how I was going to react to the banners and mound protest. I was worried sick that the lonlies would take over the meeting at Bayview last week and swamp Eugene with positve ideas.I also have to plan how I am going to fight off one of the lonlies who is making a move to take over as Trust Chairman.
This week I need to get my outfit made for the QoS trip and I am sure you will all know what a bugger sequins can be.

p.s. This post reflects my private thoughts and in no way have I been swayed by other Trust members.
