Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

The game started at a very good pace in perfect conditions with both teams sizing each other up .

Stenhousemuir being the home team slightly shaded the possession in the first 15 minutes but East fife did not look troubled with the back four looking sharp and holding good shape,

The east fife striker Daryl. (9) fired in a good shot forcing a save from the Steny keeper after great control by mike (4) to beat two players in the middle and giving a great through ball.

In 21 minutes Connor won the ball from slack play by the Steny centre back and calmly chipped the goalkeeper from 25 yards to put East fife into the lead. Steny came close in the 35 minute when Dillion fumbled a cross from a steny corner and managed to clear his second touch away from the advancing striker ,with the ball bouncing around the box , after several attempts East fife managed to finally clear the goal area.

A great individual run by Connor got him through the Steny defence but he slipped as tried to get his shot away making an easy save for the keeper.

HT 0-1

The second half began with Stenhousemuir forcing the early pace , in 47 minutes a great through ball from the Steny midfield saw the advancing East fife keeper charge to the edge of his area to punch clear of the advancing striker ,such was his determination to win the ball he injured one of his own players Natthan resulting in a few minutes delay in restarting.

In 50 minutes Steny broke through the East fife defence and forced a great defensive tackle from Natthan inside the box to deny steny a certain goal.

Stenhousemuir had most of the possession and forced a clearance from Euan resulting in a corner.

East fife worked hard to get some control back in the game but the younger lads were beginning to show signs of tiredness after their second game in three days. Steny finally got the reward when they scored to go 2-1 up in the 65 minute with a low drive straight through the East fife keeper from close range.

East fife brought on a couple of substitutes in the last quarter to freshen up the team and seemed to gain some hold back in the game.
