Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Under 19's League Cup

Well done to our under 19's who today progressed through to the semi finals of the league cup following a 2-2 draw against Cowdenbeath.
Cowdenbeath required a win to make the semis with East Fife only requiring the draw.
East Fife were 2-0 up at half time with goals from Daryl Falconer and Ross Brown.
Cowdenbeath scored twice nearer the end of the game but couldn't manage to score the elusive winner.

Well done to Gordon, Brian, Shona, Davie and all the team on this fantastic achievement.

Semi final venue and date still to be arranged.

Re: Under 19's League Cup

Well done to all concerned. A bit of good news after Saturday's setback.
I don't think enough recognition is given to the part the whole youth structure plays. It's this group of players (all ages) and the coaches/organisers (all ages !) who will be the backbone of EFFC as a community club. That may be a wee bit in the future yet but it needs to happen.

Re: Under 19's League Cup

Can't believe the main East Fife FC website has not even mentioned the u19 lads getting to the semi-final of the league cup (poor show)

Found out they will play Hamilton at New douglas park on Friday 10th May k.o 8,00pm.

Going to be a really tough game for them but good luck from this EF supporter.

Re: Under 19's League Cup

The fact its not on the main web, there is NO interest from the club i doubt if they even know who they are let alone the small success they have achieved
as a supporter its great to hear they have got this far after all they DO represent the club as a whole but most certainly not the other way around cant say iv ever seen a director at any youth games.

Re: Under 19's League Cup

I have, Ive seen directors, scouts,. players and 1st team coaches at youth games all levels this season. Maybe not every week - but the support is there. Lots of committment goes in at all levels - cash - in person,or otherwise.
And the first team will benefit as a result - and it won't be long till a youth team player makes the first team - Airdrie, Alloa, Dumbarton have all had young uns at least to the bench this season

Re: Under 19's League Cup

What directors go to youth games outwith the youth set up?
And what directors put cash into the youths at any level?
And what first team coaches go to youth games or training?
Are you maybe mixed up with attendance at reserve games which come under
the senior side.
I also attend some games at mainly younger levels but sometimes 19's and have
never seen a director at a game.

Re: Under 19's League Cup

One Director didn`t even fucking know we were playing Berwick in the play offs!!!!!!

Re: Under 19's League Cup

Unfortunately the guys went down 4-0 in the semi (got that from the Hamilton twitter account).

Still, a great performance to get that far. It would be nice to have the guys introduced to the fans before the game on Saturday (or Wednesday).

They should be proud and something to build upon.

A club like East Fife needs to have these guys regularly breaking into the first team. It's our best hope for the future.

Keep it local.

Re: Under 19's League Cup

Yes East Fife under 19s beaten last night 4-0 by a very good Hamikton side.
Good efforts by the team getting to semi finals considering that the youth project is still in its early years all credit to all involved in all aspects of the youth set up for their efforts which lets face it are all aimed at building for the future of the club.
In regard to the hierarchy at the club there appears to be general apathy from chairman to the first team manager in promoting youth, with a clear lack of interest in attending games or putting together a vision for the future progress of the project ,

Doesn't anyone realise the benefits this could provide to the club discovering not only players for the first team but the benefits if finding one good player and selling on could reap benefits from sell on clauses etc that the clubs budget would benefit from for years.

Looking at all the progressive teams in the leagues it us clear to see that they are running with a blend of tried and tested youth and experienced pros .

As a matter of interest being at the semi final last night not only hamilton directors were in attendance but their first team coach was actually managing the team on the night. East Fife directors and any member if so called first team staff were clearly absent .
Infact the Hamilton manager knew every players name in their team whereas our management team as mentioned most probably didn't even know game was on.
It is time as a club to look not only to the short term but root and branch into the future from training facilities into youth development and into having a successful first team it all takes everyone singing of the same hymn sheet and creating a playing for the jersey and pride in being part of the club ethos .
Look forward to any replies
Keep up the good work all involved in youths staff coaches and players
