Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Nade Snr

From the Courier website:

East Fife are confident that striker Christian Nade will make his debut for the club in time for the start of the new season.

The 28-year-old has agreed a short-term deal with the Methil men after a spell playing in the Thai Premier League, although the Frenchman has been struggling with a knee problem of late.

However, Nade underwent a knee operation on Friday morning and is expected to spend the next month recuperating before he is able to take part in pre-season training.

The club’s director of football Brian McNeill described the procedure to clear up Nade’s knee problem as a “routine” one and is looking forward to seeing him in action.

“We’re looking at three to four weeks recovery but he’s had the op and it was successful,” he told Courier Sport.

Meanwhile, it is understood Nade’s older brother Raphael Nade could be in line for a move to Bayview.

Boss Willie Aitchison is expected to take a look at the 32-year-old forward over the coming weeks and may decide to offer the player a deal depending on how he performs.

The older Nade started his career at French side Le Havre and also had a spell with Troyes, where his younger sibling also played, before moving to non-league English sides. He is thought to be without a club after leaving Ebbsfleet United in 2008.

Why are we looking at a 32-33 year old who has been without a club for 5 years ? I'm all for bringing experienced players to help the youngsters but someone that has played at professional level for 5 years seems a bit strange. I'd much rather see the local lad Fash being given a chance to prove himself at this level, and if he does well, we might be able to sell him on in the future.

Re: Nade Snr

I don't think we are tracking Nade snr......it'll be a case of giving him a trial when he's over visiting his brother. If he's any good then great and of not, no harm done.

Anyway, if it takes as long as it did for Samuel to get clearance, we won't see these guys until Christmas.

Re: Nade Snr

Clearance wont be a problem. Unlike Samuel he's from a EU country so doesn't need any.

I'm more concerned about signing him and because of injury not being able to play until October or something.
