Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Saying in the paper today that Darren Smith is signing for Albion Rovers

Re: Darren Smith

I really hope this isn't true. One of the very, very few players from last seasons squad I'd like to keep to hold of. He's far too good for the 3rd Division.

Re: Darren Smith

Is there a link to this? Albion have a guy by the same name already playing for them, could it be him re-signing?

Re: Darren Smith

Theres about 5 Darren Smiths in Scottish football but if it is ours then it doesnt look great losing one of the only good players from last season to one of the smallest clubs in the country. No statements about anything from the club as usual though.

Re: Darren Smith

It defiantly said East Fifes Darren Smith.

Re: Darren Smith

If he does go to Wee Rovers then the new Board are going to look a bit silly after announcing at the meeting last Thursday that he was one of the four from last season who was signed / resigning. What has happened to the 10 players that were going to be signed by last weekend ?????

Re: Darren Smith

Just a bit of niaivity on the board's aprt on Thursday I think! Names given out were actually players that the club wanted to retain rather than who was actually signed! Foolish to say the least but it will all come out in the wash

Re: Darren Smith

I'm not particularly fussed whether smith goes or doesn't, the bigger question here is what exactly is happening regarding signings,if this had happened under the previous regime we'd have been shouting loud and hard about how incompetent they were,i fear we are heading for a long hard season,7th or 8th might be wishful thinking

Re: Darren Smith

WTF? smiffy was oor best player in the play offs cant believe we letting him drop a division.......

Re: Darren Smith

Aye I think he will leave and I hope Liam stay but think he will go 2 it Scott mcbride that is crap

Re: Darren Smith

I like Smith, he's a busy wee player.
But arguably did we not play some of our best football at the end of the season when he wasn't in the starting XI?

Re: Darren Smith

What's going on at Bayview? New board announced signings last week and then the players are on twitter denying it? So as it stands we have signed Stonie and an injured player. Seriously hope Smith stays, if Albion Rovers prize him away it must be true about rumoured wages offered to the players from last season's squad.

Re: Darren Smith

Heard the same that the part time wage is shocking compared to other teams in the division and that the 3rd division will offer more. How are we going to get the best part time players with shocking finance. This must mean we are going to spend a lot on the full time players . I hate to say it but I'm thinking this is all going to go pie in the sky. We have just got a player who has to have an operation and is shite says a lot of fans he has played for.
