Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Reality

This assessment is not merely a swipe at EFFC, but at Scottish Fitba FC in its entirety ...... Simple economics dictate that the populous simply can't sustain the number of perceived Senior Clubs extrapolated throughout the central belt. With that in mind, how and what are the long term intentions of the current board ? Who makes money in pro football ? Large scale multinationals regularly lose millions during a fiscal year even at Premiership Levels, so who really gains. Why would any self respecting entrepenuer listfully gamble finances in clubs that simply are not fiscally sustainable... EFFC are the perfect case in point, a club with limited scope, resources, support and a proven track record of poor evaluation of assets and realisations. ( new regime included).

It is noted via the murk and dire clouds of the the SFA that local football (professional) will ultimately transition to regional football ,the newly created Forth Valley Academy is simply the tip of the iceberg.

In short too many small minded clubs supporting too many small egos...... EFFC are on the verge of making some serious financial mistakes which underline the concerns of suits within the SFA, take stock (supporters) enjoy your football and don't pressurise the owners, fiscal puppets etc to over commit or you may lose forever what you have.

Finally a club like EFFC should have embedded structures to provide a pathway for local youth and talent, unfortunately the youth structure replicates many others and is supported by enthusiastic individuals who are unable to identify and develop ability.

Scottish football needs some serious honesty pills....

Some good points, but we choose not to go to the moon because it is easy but because it is hard.
