Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Amazing stuff

Now, I'm not one to do a lot of moaning (unlike some). But our new owner tweeted recently suggesting that something amazing in regards to signing of players/sponsorship would happen this week. So I have checked both AFTN and the official site for this news and haven't found anything that looks as if it fits into the amazing stuff category as yet and the end of the week is only hours away. I should say that I am in favour of the takeover and the idea of introducing youth players into the first team, and I don't expect any kind of instant success and view it more as a long term plan. However I think Lee Murray should be careful what he tweets in future because after what the East Fife fans have been through it is unsurprising that much will be made comments such as Amazing news coming this week. If this plan is going to work it will I think require patience and honesty on all sides. Please don't feed us any more nonsense, we have had more than enough of that over recent years, thank you very much!

What nonsense are you talking about over recent years?

Re: Amazing stuff

Perhaps nonsense isn't quite the right word, maybe disappointment better reflects what I was trying to say. I am thinking particularly of how East Fife fans were treated during the Brown era. Anyway what I really don't want to hear are a lot of hollow promises such as the amazing news expected this week which then never materialised. I realise the week isn't over quite yet and I will be delighted to be proved wrong. I am no agitator, but if there is no amazing news than just say nothing is probably the best thing all round.

Re: Amazing stuff

Yes I read that tweet and have been waiting with baited breath ever since. Hopefully there will be some amazing stuff but I somehow feel that I'm going to be underwhelmed by it (when the news comes) or that in fact we'll never hear any more about it.

Re: Amazing stuff

We have heard a lot of big talk but talk is cheap. Sooner or later it has to be backed up.

Re: Amazing stuff

Lets all wait and see, instead of jumping to negative opinions on the new board and management team. They have shown more vision in a fortnight, than sid and his band showed in 5 years. Rome wasn't built in a day, think some fans think we will be in the european cup in a few years. I don't know much about the new chairman or manager, but after supporting east fife for 40 years, I am excited and more than willing to give them the benefit of doubt before a ball has been kicked in anger. lets show we are behind their vision for the club, and back them by getting out this week and snapping up season tickets for the new season.
