Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Re: Paul McManus

Ach well, from the Courier today..

East Fife manager Willie Aitchison admits losing striker Paul McManus to Second Division rivals Forfar was a disappointment — although he will not lose too much sleep over it.

The 30-year-old hit man decided to bring his third spell at Bayview to an end this week by making the switch to Station Park.

He leaves the Fifers pretty short of options up front as things stand, with just 19-year-old Kevin Nade and 17-year-old Daryl Falconer the only recognised forwards signed up to date.

However, while Aitchison had wanted to retain the services of McManus for the coming campaign, the Bayview boss is confident he will be able to bring in one or two suitable new faces before the season begins.

“We spoke to Paul about a new deal and the problem Paul had was that he had a bad injury last year,” he told Courier Sport.

“Perhaps to the detriment of Paul, he played through the pain at times and he probably shouldn’t have played through it.

“So the plan was for Paul to come in for pre-season training this week, get himself organised, get himself fit and if he proved he could get himself fit there was a contract on the table waiting for him.

“But it’s perfectly his choice to go in a different direction and we wish him well — I’m not going to say it wasn’t disappointing because it was.”

The Fifers are already back in pre-season training and Aitchison is looking forward to the club’s first friendly away to Alloa on Saturday July 6

Re: Paul McManus

All the best Paul. Would have loved him to stay. Oh well, hope this Nade is good. Lee Murray saying more signings to come? Certainly hope so....
