Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Dunfermline r.i.p today??

Noticed on sky sports news that they have upto today if creditors fail to agree deal with administrators so what happens then?? Would they start again in division 3 or who would take their place with only just over a week till start of season?? I think they should have been given to the beginning of July so it doesn't interrupt the start of the season not just for them but for the team that wil replace them in division 2 nd maybe 3. If they do liquidate today would we be able to take Ryan Wallace back or we got too many good strikers?

Re: Dunfermline r.i.p today??

i hope they dont go bust, i was looking forward to the local derbys more than i was looking forward to the huns coming.

Me too, used to love beating Dunfermline in days gone by. Hope they stay in business, means 2 games virtually on my doorstep too.

Latest reports on BBC and elsewhere say the fans take-over has been successful and everything ok for the coming season.

Roll on August 10th.

Re: Dunfermline r.i.p today?? From todays Courier

Dunfermline Athletic’s future has been secured after creditors voted in favour of a CVA.

Creditors meeting at East End Park voted overwhelmingly in favour of fans group Pars United’s plans to take the club forward on Tuesday, staving off the prospect of liquidation.

The group are now expected to take full control of the club and stadium over the next few weeks as the process of exiting administration progresses.

Bryan Jackson, administrator with BDO, commented: “Obviously this is a great result for the club and for the supporters who have campaigned tirelessly over the last few months to save the club.

“I have to thank the fans, the manager, team and staff at the club as well as the wider Dunfermline community who have made this day happen.”

There is a 28 day period when creditors can appeal, but Jackson is hopeful the deal will go through.
