Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Re: Kevin Drinkell Leaves East Fife

Saw rumours about this on Twitter earlier.

Strange...

Re: Kevin Drinkell Leaves East Fife

I'm guessing Naismith will become number 2.

Re: Kevin Drinkell Leaves East Fife

East Fife FC and Kevin Drinkell tonight announce that Kevin has left the club with immediate effect. Kevin felt that for football reasons it was best that he left at this time.

East Fife would like to thank Kevin for all of his help and work over the summer when the club was trying to put a new squad together - his experience was invaluable at that crucial time.

The club would like to thank and wish Kevin all the very best for the future.

First of all, try guessing why Drinkell has left

Re: Kevin Drinkell Leaves East Fife

Mon then what`s the gossip on this one ??

Half truth`s are acceptable

Re: Kevin Drinkell Leaves East Fife

I heard he had got the sack?

Re: Kevin Drinkell Leaves East Fife

He left "for football reasons". It is not hard to work out. He has a wealth of football experience.
We have lost the wrong man. Wake up, folks.

Re: Kevin Drinkell Leaves East Fife

I thought it was a strange appointment in the first place.
One look at his track record as Montrose manager might suggest you haven't really lost the wrong man.

Very simplistic way of looking at it. Do all ex players with "a wealth of football experience" automatically make good managers/coaches?

If Drinkell left because of differences of opinion from the manager (and I've no idea if that's the case or not) then you can't just assume that the guy who has played at a high level many years ago is in the best option.

Drinkell had mixed success as a manager, he did well at Stirling but poorly at Montrose. Those jobs were both a long time ago, in the 1990s, and he had been out of the game as a coach or manager ever since I'm sure.

Aitchison on the other hand will be a very modern coach, just because he has not played at any sort of level shouldn't be a black mark against his name. Didn't seem to do any harm for Morinho, Wenger, Villas-Boas, Sacchi etc. In fact it was the latter that once said "I didn't know that you had to have been a horse to be a jockey"

Re: Kevin Drinkell Leaves East Fife

What a load of crap. As you will find out in the fullness of time.

It is more commonly referred to as "knowing what is going on".

Re: Kevin Drinkell Leaves East Fife

Where you at the game today "Fife football supporter" ? Chance to interact with the management team.

No?

Stop spouting pish then.

Ta very much

Re: Kevin Drinkell Leaves East Fife

If I had a pound for everyone that came on here and claimed to know what was going on I'd buy East Fife and take them into the Champions League.

Suppose you were party to all available information regarding managerial affairs, what would make you qualified enough to base a judgement around them?

Do you have a wealth of football experience?

He was too busy sleeking around Bayview with a magnifying glass and a wax moustache, rifling through the managers waste paper bin and scrutinising crumpled Tesco receipts.

Re: Kevin Drinkell Leaves East Fife

Well here we go again. We get "fife football supporter" on here ignoring the danger he is putting himself in just so EF fans can know the truth and all he gets is abuse. I have often been tempted to be cynical or sarcastic towards posters who try to turn gossip into a scandal but here we have someone at the heart of EFFC who is not afraid that he will be seen by many as a snake who can't be trusted. Having been a regular poster for a week now he knows his life is ruined but the truth is all he cares about.
AFTNers - hang your heads in shame.

Re: Kevin Drinkell Leaves East Fife

The assistant manager has left the club, very surprisingly, after just a matter of weeks in the job. He was brought in to lend experience to a manager who had not been in charge of a senior team before. And all we get are people posting "nothing to see here, move along now". Well, I suppose love is blind.

There are any number of reasons that KD might have left his post, including the one given on the official club website.

Given that you are being so vague about it I doubt you know for sure what that reason was, and if you do, what's stopping you going into detail? You're hardly in Bradley Manning territory here.

Re: Kevin Drinkell Leaves East Fife

Fife Football Supporter... Acronym=FFS ... For f%^ks sake... Every apt! Stop the brevity, cloudiness, shit stirring, bollocks spinning etc etc etc; and away and sit on yer lips like a good bitch and only come back when you talk facts backed with hard evidence as opposed to presenting circumstantial pie in the sky anal rimmings!

I think that's what I was trying to say.

It would be wrong to post the detail here. What will be will be at East Fife, no matter what you think of my posts or motivation.

If it "would be wrong" why bother saying anything at all?

Re: Kevin Drinkell Leaves East Fife

So why was Drinkell sacked? Anyone know?

If it is something detrimental to East Fife then how about voicing your concerns? Presumably he has fallen out with the manager on team tactics?
