Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

If things were different

Although I'm happy for the money and the exposure etc, I really wish the SFA would've just launched Rangers back into the SPL instead of through the smaller leagues.

Since I was a wee guy; I always focused on East Fife, and purposely avoided the top flight of Scottish Football, mainly because that's where all the vile, sectarian, haters, ultra's reside etc.

For example; If anyone saw what Rangers fans done to Airdrie's stadium? Lit off flares, filled the stand with smoke, and threw toilet rolls all over the pitch. Lighting flares & smoke bombs is illegal in this country. Think it's a total disrespect to anyone's ground or team.

My next point:

Sure if Rangers weren't in this league we'd not have all the exposure to lower league Scottish Football - But what is wrong with exposing these leagues without Rangers? If you've seen Sky & BT Sports recent broadcasts they're actually showing lower league football here and there when there's no top flight games on etc. Why can't they do that up here?

Or better yet, why can't East Fife and the other clubs do it themselves? The money we gain from this season? We could buy our own camera equipment, get better wifi at Bayview and broadcast our own games on "East Fife TV"

Really hate the fact The Rangers need to be down here for us to gain any extra money or get recognition.

Re: If things were different

Plenty of landmines in there. I'll have to watch how I write this.

Ehm, I think I'm reasonably happy with the situation. Things are as they are, and this league is more interesting with Rangers in it than not. I think a lot of people, Gers supporters included, wouldn't have accepted their going straight into the SPL.

If East Fife had a support 100 times the size it is now, we'd have 100 times as many bams too.

What's wrong with exposing these leagues without Rangers is lack of an audience. I'd subscribe to East Fife TV, but I suspect the numbers would be small.

Re: If things were different

Why don't we have a decent highlight package of all leagues on our national TV?
We all pay our BBC TV license, and could have local adverts on STV.
Most games are recorded now, so why not show decent highlights show instead of the pre recorded pish they serve up to us now on a Saturday / Sunday night?
