Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Our problem is our back four

Just watched the stranraer highlights and couldn't believe the positioning of players leading to their second goal, Hansen on MOTD would have a field day.

It was the same at the Rangers match, sloppy defending cost us.

We are not tight enough and we don't operate as a unit at the back. That's why we are losing and it needs to be sorted out. Stranraer had too much freedom in our box and that too was worrying.

Everything you say is correct but if you remove all our feelings for the club take away all the dead wood and just look at the cold facts, all becomes apparent. We have a 50+year old manager who has only worked with youths, and he for one reason or another lost his very experienced assistant. The Director of Football was our Director of youths and has no senior experience, the football secretary was head of youths last season, the managers son who looks about school age takes some of the training and so does the goalie coach who also has only worked in youth football. All in all we are being run more or less by last years East Fife Youth Academy plus one or two. Messrs Campbell, McCoist, Jeffries, Sheerin etc must be wetting themselves before they play us. The rest of Fife are laughing up their sleeves after all the pre-season hype and promises.

Re: Our problem is our back four

correct leaking to much goals, exactly the same problem as last year and you know where we ended up.

Re: Our problem is our back four

Part of what your saying is true but if we had a midfield it would ease the pressure on the back four. You defend as a team so it's unfair to blame just the defense. Must win game today, but them again i said that last week. Things can only get better. Time for the manager to pick a settled team and stop changing everything every week. Mon the Fife. 2.1 today.
