Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Jimmy Calderwood for manager

He's looking to get back into football and would command the respect of everyone.

^^^ This.

Re: Jimmy Calderwood for manager

Definitely. Its been a while since we had a "proper" manager. Somebody like him would be brilliant.

Aitchison - never been a manager - out of his depth
Brown - never been a manager - poor
Durie - never been a manager - couldn't cope
Robertson - had managerial experience and it showed. Took us to quarter final of league cup and really close to promotion play offs
Crawford - never been a manager -and never will be

Our club has become a nursery for trying out untested managers. People have to start somewhere it's true and I'm not against trying out new talent per se but there is a world of difference between employing a Steve Archibald (who was employed after due process and interviews I recall too) and a Willie Aitchison or Billy Broon who if they had shown any desire, talent or ambition to be a manager would surely have become one years ago.

Let's admit our mistake, get Willie to coach the young players or something and get a proper, experienced football manager in now before we are doomed to relegation

Re: Jimmy Calderwood for manager

I`m sure that Aitchsion has shown desire, talent and ambition to become a Manager in the past but what club in their right mind would take on a guy that has basically coached at youth level and has no senior managerial experience?
Oh, wait a minute.
