Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Yesterday's presentation at half time.

Don't think I've been as proud of the EF support as I was yesterday. The reception the 1971 squad received was nothing short of outstanding. Every player was blown away & spoke of nothing else after the game.
We would like to set up an ex-players society so that can give everyone who ever played in the b&g the opportunity to be invited back to Bayview. Unfortunately this is going to take a lot of time & effort to do so anyone who is interested in helping can they please contact me either directly or thru Eugene. His contact details are pinned above. We also have plans to start a hall of fame & again if anyone is interested in helping with this please contact me.

Re: Yesterday's presentation at half time.

That was the season that I first started supporting EFFC and I can remember that team as if it was yesterday.

It was absolutely brilliant to see all of the players and Pat Quinn again.

Thank you for organising and also to the players and Pat Quinn for coming back to Bayview.

Well done all.

Re: Yesterday's presentation at half time.

Great to see EF fans old and new giving our legends such a great ovation yesterday,Mr McQuade in great form as he soaked up the adulation, and I`ve heard his colour telly is still in good working order.

Re: Yesterday's presentation at half time.

On behalf of all the players I would like to thank Liam, and everyone else involved in making this a most memorable event for us all. To see all your team mates together again after more than 40 years was an emotional experience. We spent most of the day recalling special moments both on and off the pitch, and I can't put into words how special it was. Seeing the boss, The Mighty Quinn, and his son and daughter was fantastic. Despite the passage of time,Pat still has that twinkle in his eye, and recalling various events with him seemed to stimulate his memory on the day. I reminded him that my nickname "Bacardi Pete" known to the more mature Fife supporter, was as a direct result of him introducing a young 21 year old from Inverkeithing to this exotic drink.

The ovation we got at half time will stay with me for the rest of my life, and it was at that point I realised how much we had achieved as a squad for this great club and it's fans. Thank you all so much.

I will be writing to the club to thank them for facilitating (I've lost some of you now)the event, and would hope that some of the players will return to attend more games in the future.

Re: Yesterday's presentation at half time.

Being someone who attended their first game in 1990, the early 70s side was one which I was only aware of through books and conversations with my dad and other older relations. To see them in the flesh 40 years on was fantastic, and not without some emotion.

The 1995-96 promotion side next, perhaps?

Re: Yesterday's presentation at half time.

Funny you should say as they are on the radar. The issue is that a fair number of those guys are still involved in football so getting along on a Saturday might be difficult. Can only try though!
