Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Why does he fit the bill?

Re: willie atchinson

We shouldn't rush the appointment we should see who is all interested in the job in first place. In a long shot Davie weir may be interested as it was him who alerted us to Gary naysmith. Think it is time for a tried and trusted experienced manager unlike the recent appointments tho or even try get dick Campbell from Forfar

Re: willie atchinson

Kirkwood started his career with East Fife and joined Rangers under Graeme Souness in 1987 as a 19 year old. After a disappointing spell in Glasgow he re-joined The Fifers on loan and signed for Hearts. He played with Airdrieonians and Raith Rovers before retiring. Kirkwood was among the players at Raith to win a League Cup winners medal in 1994.

Kirkwood was involved in youth development at Raith Rovers, Rangers and Ross county where he was Head of Youth Development for 5 years

He was manager of wick for a year before resigned to join brora rangers. I know its Highland but his team averages 3 goals a game

It's a pity it didn't work out for him - a nice guy who tried to play football the right way. And he's inclusion of Barr, Austin and Brown has to be admired and respected.

Aye decent team would say our squad is better though ...here is a bit from his interview at weekend ...just saying he is a type of sort that we need

"It took some harsh words at half time. It was a bit face-to-face but thats the home truths, you get a pat on the back when you do well and deserve it but the first 30 minutes we just werent at the races. The truth was told at half time and we got the reaction in the second half."

Brora were 2-1 down to huntly at HT and won 4-2

How good would that be? Would add a few hundred to the gate for sure!!

Re: willie atchinson

AYE ALLAN MOORE THATS JUST BEEN SACKED,WHAT THE FUCK HAVE DAVIE KIRKWOOD OR CHRISTIAN DAILY DONE IN MANAGEMENT.

Re: willie atchinson

Nothing the same as allan moore

don't take it personal ffs difference of opinion but why appoint someone who was sacked just a DAY ago ??

Daily is doing a sport science degree and coaching badges the now. he could be the next up and coming manager.

How about Craig Levein then ?

Re: willie atchinson

Grant Murray at the Rovers is doing well.

He's probably looking for a club that match his ambitions.

Re: willie atchinson

does it actually matter how long ago it was he was sacked,he's got plenty experience in these leagues, each to ones own.

Re: willie atchinson

Got a feeling it would be David Weir ... But that might be a gamble ... Key is to consolidate so someone who has good experiance at consolidation would do ...

Nah, Grant Murray wouldn't be any use to you. He doesn't know anything about 3rd tier football - he's never even played at that level, far less managed at it.
Was it a typo in your post - did you mean Gavin Murray? I think he's a bit more in your ballpark.

Re: willie atchinson

You could go for Jim McIntyre at QOS he would be perfect for you lot an ex-scumbag and a cheat as well.Suit you lot right down to the ground.

Re: willie atchinson

what about jimmy calderwood ?

Re: willie atchinson

or even Schaba Lazlo?

2000–2001 Partick Thistle 19 (1)
2001–2002 Greenock Morton 15 (1)

2002–2003 Stirling Albion 6 (0)
Total Appearances and goals 432 (52)

"Moore took over as manager of Stirling Albion from Ray Stewart in 2002. At this time, the club was languishing at second bottom of the Third Division. Moore's impact was recognised instantly, and in the 2003–04 season he successfully guided Stirling to promotion to the Second Division. Steady progress in the next few years culminated in yet another promotion, via the playoffs, to the First Division at the end of the 2006–07 season"...

They did come back down though, but he did have a positive impact!

Re: willie atchinson

point taken-cheers.

Re: willie atchinson

The last 4 years have been a bit up and down

Re: willie atchinson

Moore has been round the block a bit and still a young manager. Hes had no time away from the game, so he'll still got his finger on the pulse.
He did struggle a bit at Morton (as I understand, he had a very limited budget) but would certainly consider him as a worthy option.

Did I see Wilkie aitchison at half time at tynecastle today on the telly talking to Scott brown
