Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Forfar

Thought we struggled first half and took us 40 mins to get going but what a reaction from the players at half time! McKenzie is exactly what weve been missing

Re: Forfar

Not able to get to the game today. How did the rest of the new guys play? And the gaffer? First game for him for a while.

Looking forward to next week big style!

Re: Forfar

First couple of minutes of the game we came out guns blazing and looked determined to take an early lead. Forfar gradually took control and battered us for most of the rest of the half. They used the slippy surface really well twisting and turning men, creating lots of chances and pinging shots from the edge of the box. Templeman was excellent as usual. No surprise when they scored and although we had a couple of good chances we were fortunate to only be 1 down at half time.

Second half was a different story altogether, I felt we needed a quick goal and that's what we got. Slightly fortunate with the deflection but we're long overdue to get some luck. After that Forfar looked rattled and we took control forcing Douglas to make some excellent saves. Fife players were queuing up to shoot for our second goal, the ball finally falling to the excellent O'Neill who opted for composure after his teammates had been trying to leather it in. Very unlucky not to get a third but Douglas is arguable the best keeper in the league and it showed. Naturally Forfar had a couple of chances near the end as they pressed for an equaliser (including one hearts in mouths moment) but we held on for a long overdue win against that mob. Great effort by the manager and players. All of the new signings look handy and considering this was their first game they all did well. Good to see Naysmith back and although he was maybe a bit rusty I feel much better seeing him at left back than anyone else we try there. Buchanan was excellent as usual, Mbu immense, and solid from Paterson

Re: Forfar

We were a totally different team 2nd half, could have (should have) had a couple more. Two wide men McKenzie and R Stewart were excellent. Great 3 points #MonTheFife

Re: Forfar

Took sometime to settle against a competent Forar side, big Temps always
causes us problems, gaffer looked a bit rusty in the early stages.
Rutkiewicz looks to be what is required at the back, and McKenzie was very busy. O'neil and Smith
done well. Thought Scot Durie had a good game today IMO

Re: Forfar

Big Kevin looked solid at the back, similar player to Gary Thom IMO. Naysmith did look rusty but his composure and experience always helps, good 3 points

Re: Forfar

Couldn't make the game as per because of work but congrats to the boys. Great to see the two boys the gaffer brought in score the goals, and against a team that has beaten us regularly this season.

Onwards and upwards, mon' the fife!

Re: Forfar

Great performance from the whole team, felt garys signings are all major improvements. Wee Mark McKenzie will get us a few more goals this season thats for sure. No longer am I worried about relegation play-offs and it feels Fantastic ....mon the fife

Re: Forfar

Significant result today, says a lot. Means the excuse page is blank which has its own significance. Pity the hottest thread just now is the pie stand lol.
