Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Re: Latest Score

I hope they find out who let the smoke off and ban them, we could do without the fans getting a bad name.

Re: Latest Score

I think the smoke bomb is the least of our worries. Brechin will never have an easier win all season.
6 gifts in the last 2 games is a disgrace.

Re: Latest Score

was difficult to take the day, we work hard then give them goal`s for free. Cannot help but look at the brechin back 4 and be impressed tho nothing fancy just don't let anything past you . Simple yet effective.
The big baldy dude at the back been a thorn in our side for a while now. IMO we played noo bad at times. Fisher was running them ragged and Durie was different class. But we picked the wrong options all day up-front

Re: Latest Score

I also thought we played quite well at times. For a spell at the beginning we matched them and had a bit of control but gave away a soft goal followed by another which seemed offside. Despite that we started the second half in control only to give away a howler and it was game over.
Also have to agree that we had some decent build up play but made wrong decisions when near goal.
If the team is getting outplayed the least they can do is concentrate on the bits where no pressure is being applied. Our goal kicks, free kicks and corners are terrible. Let's at least get the basics right.

Re: Latest Score

Gary Naysmith said a few weeks back that if the players did not give a 100% they would not get a shirt in his team. The last two games the biggest problem is individual errors leading to goals for the opposition, and how easy we let the opposition play when we do not have the ball. Our work rate when we do not have the ball has to be questioned, we give them time and space to hurt us. Worrying times, and we really need to make it more difficult for the opposition to hurt us. That might mean a change from the 442 that is favoured by naysmith. But a good start would be to really start pressing the opposition when we do not have possession of the ball.

Agree. One of the most alarming moments for me was last week when the Dunfermline right back got the ball in his own position and basically jogged with it, through the centre circle, over to the left wing and passed it to the feet of their striker. He ran the whole way completely unchallenged, not even put under the slightest bit of pressure. It was real Sunday league stuff from our players.

Re: Latest Score

What would we give for a comfortable 3-0 win over somebody in the league. All the wins except air dire have been backs to the wall one goal victories,,,,,
