Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Game v Stranraer

Game of two halves really.
Thought we were excellent first half and should have went in 2 up.
Second half was more of what we are used to this season and if we had lost then no complaints really. Hard to put a finger on what went wrong.
Fash going off obviously a big one as he was excellent first half. One player doesn't make a team though.
Is fitness an issue here?
Would like to see Naysmith being a bit more vocal on touchline. Too quiet for my liking compared to the Stranraer bench.

2 points dropped yesterday and cant understand how a team can simply switch off after 45 mins.

Buchanan was excellent and deserved man of match.

Wee Bruce looks as though he`s going to be yet another liability in a football shirt. Worrying that we are still fielding these kinds of players.

7 points from 3 matches isn't bad going but too little too late i fear and running out of time.

Cup finals coming up and anymore 2nd half displays like yesterday and we are heading for the playoffs.

Why don't you look at the positives and say, "anymore displays like the first half and we having nothing to fear"?

Re: Game v Stranraer

What went wrong was Garys tactics! Bruce didnt hold the ball up or win any headers thats why everything kept coming straight back at us. When are managers gonna learn sitting in does not work! Stevie Crawford was bad for it also.

yeah, there are loads of positives aren't there?
That`s why we`re 2nd bottom of the league!!

Re: Game v Stranraer

You have got it spot on. How come more fans who go to games cant see that its tactics thats the main part of the problem. To defend a one goal lead needs players of the highest order. Otherwise you just give the opposition encouragement and eventually mistakes are made in defence. I dont need to go to games to read the script, its been going on for ages. Folk seem to think that somehow, mysteriously, the opposition takes the upper hand in the second half. Its gifted to them. Fans just dont want to see this and it obviously doesnt gain points. Its a lot of pish. What the fuck is there to lose by attacking for 90 minutes? It stands a chance of getting me back. These managers and coaches that have played at a high level seem to think they can use the tactics of their mentors at a much lower level. Its a lot of fuckin crap in the third tier of Scottish football. Ive said it all before, and i will keep saying it. Its not a way to progress upwards and its most certainly not a way to get folk through the turnstiles.
