Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Bayview Bites - 10th April 2014

Firstly, apologies...there has been a technical glitch with the recording of the interview so unfortunately there is no audio this week!

However, here is an overview of the interview I conducted this week, with East Fife's striker Nathan Austin:

I started off by asking Nathan what he thought about Saturday's match vs Stranraer. Nathan replied saying he felt that it was a good first half performance, and he thought that they could've been 2 or 3 goals up. To counteract this, I asked Nathan if he felt it was 1 point gained or 2 points dropped: Nathan felt it was definitely 2 points dropped, and he stated all the other boys in the dressing room felt this way, too. I then asked Nathan about his recent scoring run of 3 goals in his last 3 appearances. He feels this is down to his new role given to him by Gary Naysmith where he has been moved across to the right hand side of a front three. But does he feel this suits his attributes more? Yes, was Nathan's reply - it allows him to be more direct, take on opponents, use his pace and so on. So, what about Stenny this weekend - another big game! Nathan felt that it was another big game against a team they've picked up a good couple of results against, however, they also know they're a solid unit and won't be easy to break down. But, Nathan is confident that if they keep up the form of the last 3 matches (7 points out of 9) then they can take maximum points in this encounter. Does Nathan feel that if they keep this run going over the last 4 matches, it'll be enough to see East Fife stay up? Yes, replied Nathan. He feels that this is true, especially as games against Brechin and Airdrieonians are still to be played. Finally, I asked Nathan how he's found the step up - what is the biggest change from the amateur to the senior game? Nathan feels he had initially struggled but is getting better every game and is continuing to learn. He feels the biggest difference in the senior game compared to that of the amateur level is the fitness levels, and he has been working on this since he joined East Fife in the summer of 2013.

Once again, apologies for any inconvenience caused by there being no audio. It was an unforeseen glitch with the recording. Bayview Bites should be back as usual next week.

Thank you as always for your understanding with these matters.

Reporter.

Cheers for that.

Anyone know if Fash has signed for next season? Vital that we hold on to him in my opinion!
