Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Naysmith refuses to talk to the press

The papers are reporting this morning that Gary Naysmith refused to talk to the press because he was so angry. I cant blame him.

I just wish the players had the same passion as Naysmith and the fans last night, and also down at Ayr.

I am gutted by our performance. Looking at the match last night, we have a lot of players who couldn't even handle the bottom league.

I have a ticket for the player of the year event but if East Fife get relegated on Saturday there is NO WAY that I will be going. I'd rather waste my money than watch a joke of evening rewarding guys who have let down the fans, Lee Murray and the manager.

Re: Naysmith refuses to talk to the press

He is the man who picks the team and sets out the tactics, the least he can be doing is communicating with the fans how he felt the game was won and lost. I don't know what happened at half time but East Fife were on the park 10 minutes before Clyde. In his defence I don't think the greatest manager in the world could make a team out of that lot. First half we made clyde look like Real Madrid. Slightly better 2nd half but it would have been impossible not to be. Stranger things have happened in football, but East Fife scoring 2 at home and conceding none looks along shot to me.

Re: Naysmith refuses to talk to the press

I don't see anything wrong with this. If he spoke to the press he had two options:

1 - Make excuses for the players, anger the fans, who then call for his head and create another cloud of negativitiy

2 - Vent his fury at the performance, tell us all how utterly shite the players were last night and all season, and thus the players wont care on Saturday

Re: Naysmith refuses to talk to the press

Not sure where they are getting this from.
I have stuff from last night from the manager I'm about to Tweet when I have a spare five minutes.
The guys from the daily titles obviously have quite tight deadlines on midweek games and may have sent their reports through before the manager came out the dressing room.
To say Gary refused to talk to the press last night is quite simply untrue.

Thanks for this Scott.
