Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Our true position?

Like everyone else, I am disappointed at the outcome of this season. Since East Fife were last in the second top league (1996 -7) and finished a very embarrassing 14 points behind the second bottom team, only eleven teams in senior football have not had at least one season in what is now termed the Championship or above.
As well as East Fife they are Stenhousemuir, Forfar and Peterhead, who will be in the league above us next season, as well as Annan, Berwick Rangers, Montrose, Albion Rovers, East Stirling, Elgin and Queens Park.
During this period I have heard that we should aim to be the best part time club in the country from Gordon Dow and Lee Murray's aim to have the club established in the second top league.
On the basis of the performance over the last couple of decades we are perhaps not too far away from our place in the natural order of things. However, it remains embarrassing to be two leagues below Cowdenbeath, Alloa and the Rovers!
Attracting quality players for next season will be a major challenge and attracting fans will also be difficult if there is not a commitment to a more attacking style of play.

Re: Our true position?

You are right and it hurts beyond hurt to face the truth; we are a fourth rate team and we are back where we belong.

Are the tossers who have the fucking nerve to wear an East Fife shirt pissed off tonight? Do they give a shit? No, not fucking one of them.

Re: Our true position?

Am still too disapointed and pissed off to comment on things.

Re: Our true position?

Me too Randy Grandad. Went to bed last night thinking about it and woke up this morning thinking about it. That's how it gets you when you are a true supporter but what can you do? It's in your blood. No matter how bad you feel, it's still your team. So what do you do? Get behind the team and let's get out the basement league as soon as possible.

No doubt mistakes have been made and cost us dearly but Lee Murray and fellow directors should be given the benefit of the doubt and see what next season brings? To get the community involved is an admirable idea and should be the way forward for clubs in this day and age. I like what I see when these young flag bearers, ball boys are there at home games. The youth football teams are great to get youngsters involved although what I have seen of the coaches could be better ie lack of good football knowledge and nepotism.

Gar Naysmith puzzled me at times with team selections and tactics but again he has experience at a high level. Let's give him a full season with players of his choice.

If we are in the same position or worse at the end of next season then let's deal with it but remember once East Fife is in your blood it's there to stay like it or lump it.

Re: Our true position?

Yeah I'll fucking lump it but it hurts like shite. Already fucked off about the snide remarks this morning but fuck the lot of them.
