Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

the season

Where we gonna finish?

Re: the season

Second and promotion

Re: the season

If stevie un Moyes can stay fit and we can get a striker to play along side Mcshane,we should be there or there abouts at the end ov the season.

Re: the season

I think we will have a good season .. Automatic Promotion, would love it but its the goals, where are they going to come from. Agree with previous post another decent striker is required!

Re: the season

We need a goalscorer to challenge for title. Think as it stands we will make play offs.

Re: the season

We have four forwards (Smith, Austin, McShane, Campbell) we normally go with one or two up front.
Generally we play four across the back and have Mullen, Campbell, Moyes, Smith, Naysmith and Wooley available. Kevin Rutkiewicz is still injured.
The team that comes out top over the course of a league season tends to be the one with the strongest defence. The gaffer will realise that this is the area where more cover is needed.

Re: the season

Traditionally folk look for a 20+ goals a season striker. I'm not sure any of the 4 players mentioned fit that mold.

But if the goals are spread throughout the team, that's no bad thing.

Build from the back, tighten up on last season (not difficult surely) and stop giving away soft and stupid goals. That must be the initial formula. Do that and the rest will take of itself. I don't expect us to score loads of goals, when do we ever, but I feel there is enough in this squad to surely get to the play-offs at least. Anything less and it will go down as a failure.
