Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Our chance of becoming the 1st Fife club to use Pay What You Can?

Would this work to boost our attendance at Bayview? It worked at albion and now Inverness are testing the same idea can it work for East Fife and be the 1st fife club to employ the scheme used at other clubs?

What do you all think? I think it would be good way to boost attendance.

Re: Our chance of becoming the 1st Fife club to use Pay What You Can?

It would be a great idea and a certain way to boost attendances! Scottish football is seriously overpriced throughout. The reaction on people's faces when I tell them it's £13 to watch the Fife tells it's own story. Maybe the board can trial it for a game or two and make sure it's well publicized. My only fear is that the interest would quickly disappear if results and performances don't improve. Worth a try surely.

Yeah, good luck with that.

Re: Our chance of becoming the 1st Fife club to use Pay What You Can?

Lol i wouldn't pay a penny to watch that shite and i'm loaded!
And there lies your problem.

Re: Our chance of becoming the 1st Fife club to use Pay What You Can?

I must admit, I laughed when I saw the title of this thread.

I think there's nil chance of that.

I'd love to be proved wrong though. I think it's a great idea and it's just the sort of initiative the board need to show if they're to try and turn round the supporter apathy.

Re: Our chance of becoming the 1st Fife club to use Pay What You Can?

It's a great idea, but sadly it won't happen at Bayview. Scottish football needs a revolution at our level to get people interested in their local clubs again.I don't know what the answer is,but all these clubs in leagues 1 and 2 can't stumble along season after season, going nowhere with 300-500 people turning up every second week.

I would probably chip in a fiver over and above my season ticket.

A revolution probably is required and I don't know what the answer is either, but lower division clubs have managed to stumble along for the past 35 seasons on the numbers coming in through the gates that you mention. If they are sensibly managed then there is no reason why this can't continue but it's a massive challenge ahead ahead for us given our current financial position.
Personally I think we should look at the Hamilton Academical model and try to learn from a club with arguably a smaller fanbase than ourselves.
