Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Clueless Naysmith Strikes Again.

McShane gone.

Fash and Ross Campbell up front

Could it get any worse?

Re: Clueless Naysmith Strikes Again.

To be fair, McShane is a big wage not doing the business. I like him, but it's not working. The load to Stranraer should hopefully free up a wage that can be better spent.

That is if the board can allow that wage to go straight back into the player budget.

Re: Clueless Naysmith Strikes Again.

Never been that impressed with McShane. Playing up front on his own doesn't suit him as he is so slow and at times lazy. However I hope he is replaced as apart from Kevin Smith no other forward looks capable of creating chance never mind scoring.

This should free up a large wage so I hope Naysmith has somebody lined up, who isn't cente half.

Ross Brown has played almost every position apart from up top, so I expect to see him up there on Saturday.

Re: Clueless Naysmith Strikes Again.

Firstly , the financial state of the club is grievous.Only loans given by the directors is keeping the club currently solvent.Fortunately , none of the clubs creditors is seeking immediate payment in full.
Additionally , the club is in discussions with person/persons unknown regarding a land sale 30 metres beyond the current perimeter wall of the stadium .
The reality of the situation is that Lee Murray made contracts with certain players which the club could not afford to pay.

John McShane comes into that category.

With any manager, you must trust his judgment.I agree that I sincerely hope that the Directors give him at least some of the wages that have been released.

Re: Clueless Naysmith Strikes Again.

It seems a strange one from Stranraer's point of view as I would have thought Malcolm and Longworth were the best strike pairing in that division, therefore McShane will only be a back-up, unless one of the two mentioned is sold.
However, hopefully he's the man to fire Stranraer to the title and keep the Pars down for at least another season.

Re: Clueless Naysmith Strikes Again.

we must have someone lined up,surely, but then again its east fife

Re: Clueless Naysmith Strikes Again.

Is this McShane that no-one seems to rate the same one that hardly ever plays but is still our top scorer by some way?

Re: Clueless Naysmith Strikes Again.

McShane has been aweful! Came with promise and delivered nought apart from a few goals. He seemed a right grump and always moaning. IMHO no great loss on the scale of 1 thru 10 as we are fecked as a club anyway.

Re: Clueless Naysmith Strikes Again.

I think the post headline is a bit ridiculous. Pretty sure this may be a financial move of some sort that was taken out of Naysmith's hands and as people have said he's hardly set the heather alight.

I think this was Gary's call. If he wants to add to the squad he needs to let somebody go. With five forwards to call on the chances are he felt he could sacrifice one and strengthen elsewhere. I'm guessing, and I could be wrong, that Jon is the highest paid front man and that Stranraer were prepared to meet his wage bill.
The Gaffer is between a rock and a hard place just now, as is everyone at the club.
