Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

possible signing

MER Hibs and Celtic striker Derek Riordan is set to return to football after four months out of the game - by turning out as a trialist for East Fife on Tuesday night in the League 2 side’s home match against East Stirlingshire.

Riordan, who has played only three games this season in a trial spell with Brechin City back in October, is wanted by East Fife manager Gary Naismith whose squad has been hit by injury problems.

YASSSSSS FINALLY, defo need to add him in the squad still has experience in the game but has went backwards defo needs a club to kickstart his carrier and can do the job at the level but his fitness will be a problem hope it improve and can retain him in the squad and help fash and ola out. Big player defo worth a chance here at fife no more out gary get riordan in and sign defo short upfront.

Re: possible signing

Derek Riordan has recently been training full time with Livingston. There is no doubting his ability and I'm sure he could be a standout at this level. It all comes down to his motivation and how keen he is to get back into the game on a permanent basis. He had previously offered himself to clubs to play for free which suggests to me he is desperate to get back into the game. Hopefully his ability and experience can help the team and help the development of Fash and Ola.
Welcome to Bayview Derek. Let's get your career back on track. Great opportunity for both parties.

Re: possible signing

Yes happy with that.

Re: possible signing

delighted with this of east fife given a player a chance to get his career on the pitch back and everything works out, still a very good player at this level and love to see riordan get a permanent deal if he impresses naysmith and could proved tutor to fash and ola who are young. He lost his way after signing for celtic but could work for naysmith and playing at this level than at brechin. I really hope he scores tonight but can be a bit rusty for not playing as much since october it can come and Naysmith will surely help him like he did with Julen. Good to see Riordan here welcome to Methil, i really hope things work out for this lad and a dream signing back in the first days with hibs.

Re: possible signing

Heard Riordan talking on BBC Sportsound around a season ago before his move to Alloa - think O'Connor was on the same programme.
Both actually spoke very well and seemed keen to get back into the game so I'm surprised they still seem to be floating around the bottom of the Scottish game.
Fingers crossed Riordan has that wee spark back and can get a couple of goals if he plays tonight!

Re: possible signing

No many tap-ins there, a couple of those would be good tonight!!!

Oh Derek, where did it all go wrong???
