Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Saga of Rankine

Just released Livi have been fined and restricted in signing players because of this. It seems the club has been punished for Rankine's actions and everyone in the club is punished for this. I imagine that legal implications prevent the SFA from targeting the sole instigator although it was the secretary's duty to put the required information in the return and the board as a whole to see that this was done.

Two points arise from this. As major shareholder Rankine had authority to instruct/threaten what should be recorded. Also how would the board know as even the SFA had previously held that there was no case when a similar situation arose with Dumbarton.

What a shambles the SFA takes no action against Rankine when he was spefically mentioned in all breeches. Rules need changing as this is so obviously a case where the law is an ass and the innocent are being punished for the deeds of the guilty.

A Scottish FA registration embargo was imposed on Wednesday after it was ruled the businessman had failed to dispose of a dual interest in either club."

So the Go4 have failed to get their takeover done.

The SFA cannot punish Rankine because being the sleekit weasel that he is, he did not become a director at Livingston. The SFA are not the police, they can't punish someone who is not a member of an SFA club.
Nothing has changed today. Since the verdict was announced earlier this year, Livingston were always going to be punished. From the moment the charge were announced last year, it was never going to be Rankine who was hit with a personal penalty.
It would be a valid question to ask why East Fife have not been punished, because it takes two to tango. That must be coming next?

Aye, and all of the directors from Collumbine to Dave Marshall, Barclay and Stevenson, knew, lied to fans/shareholders and were part of the cover up.

Yes that concerns me too. Ignorance, if we claim that, is surely no defence in this case as everyone has known about Rankine's involvement with East Fife for a decade or more. I'm hoping of course we don't get punished but if we do let's hope that any points penalty is enough to keep us off the bottom.
