Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Last time we were crap and still should have taken something. NOW.....gerrintaethum. would love to be there #fifeforlife

Re: today

1 -0 nil down after 2 mins, Fife miss another pen after 10 mins

Re: today

1-0 down within minutes and we miss a penalty. Why am I not surprised? This is East Fife all over. Might as well just give up on 4th place now.

Re: today

Is than not 3 consecutive penalty misses? Terrible really...

Re: today

1-1 now

Re: today

Keep the faith:-)

Re: today

2.1 Annan. Montrose 2 Elgin 1. All to play for.

Re: today

Both teams were up for this game and a point would have been a good result. Fash took his goal brilliantly after great lead up work from Jules but missed a golden chance in the second half when lost control when one on one with keeper. Game changed when Gary went off injured and Ross went to right back and was given a torrid time from their left side . Another puzzling decision was replacing Sean with Cookie cos Sean was up to then the man of the match, no wonder he was miffed in the dugout. The penalty miss was purely down to a dreadful plastic pitch which Fraser slipped on just as he was about to strike the ball. I have never been a lover of plastic pitches although I can see the economic and practical reasons for them but from a players point of view I don't believe any player likes playing on them. All in all we were all gutted at the end as Annan stole the win but both teams played good football but a draw would have been fairer.

Re: today

First time this season I have commented on the team's performance. Why,why, why do we either set out negatively or get into a strong position then turn negative. It has happened regularly but the last two away games sum it all up. We started defensively against Clyde and after 30 mins they had posed no threat and were there to be beat but rather than go on the offensive we just played the same way until they got a break and scored. It was only then we went on the offensive but too late.
Today, after an early set-back we went on the offensive, played well, equalised and were in charge of the game. From that point we gradually defended deeper and deeper until we finally got what we deserved. There was a 10 minute spell when we hardly got out of our own half.
I really believe we have a team to beat anyone in the league but our tactics suggest not everyone shares that belief.

Re: today

MANAGER IS THE PROBLEM.

CLUELESS!

Re: today

Thought we were the better team today but never troubled their keeper. Fash couldn't trap a bag of cement had a chance to score. But struggled to control it. Flemming just looks really nervous. Not sure how Millar never played

Re: today

Yep agree after Gary Naysmith went off injured & Ross Brown had to go at RB the midfield struggled, we played far too deep & the goal was coming. Last 3 pens missed, will never understand why a striker doesnt take them, was gutted at the end. Still in our hands incredibly, hey 2 Wins & we're there!!!!

Re: today

Mr Angry
MANAGER IS THE PROBLEM.

CLUELESS!

Clueless is a bit harsh i think.

But he got a lot of things wrong yesterday.

Annan were there for the taking yesterday but players taking the wrong option were a big problem, yes Fash got his goal but this lad needs to remember that it is a team game and the number of times he never laid the ball of to other players who were in better goal scoring positions was a joke, he is far to greedy at times, and the manager should have subbed him when he picked up a injury with 20 minutes to go.

The formations he plays at times are baffling, FFS they are a bunch of part time players and he has got them trying to do things that they are just not capable of doing and at times the players just look lost.

Why did he take the best player on the park off, the lad had every right to be fuming when he through his top of in to the dug out, why did he bring on a player who has just come back from injury and seemed to struggle from the minute he came on, it was all just to negative from the manager yesterday, hoping to hold on for a point when he should have went for the 3 points, he spoke about the team having injuries and so on in his interview after the game, what's the story with Riordan, he should have been brought on for the last 20 to try and get one of the many wasted chances the manager spoke about that the players never took.

The captain had a howler yesterday but it seems the manager isn't prepared to take him off, and the arguing between the manager the assistant and Fash regards if he was okay was a joke, make the decision and sub him rather than acting like that on the touch line, not good stuff, shame for the fans that travelled to watch that negative football when the manager decided to hold on for a draw and it backfired on him big time with the last minute sucker punch goal from Annan who were dire for most of the game.

Why play players who are injured. Baffling.

Apart from that it was a nice day out in the sun.

Re: today

Just watched video highlights. Can't believe we didn't get something from that game on chances going begging. Fash has scored a few this season but he could have had a lot more with better control and better finishing.

Also can't believe we got done by a Fraser Mullen special at the first goal. Pitch looked a bit ropey with EF players slipping a lot especially Mullen when taking the penalty. No Annan players slipping so did we have the appropriate footwear on the day ???

Think we have a decent group of players but are we playing the correct system??????????
