Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

the bottom line is .....

no matter what happens next week,if we beat elgin in the last game then we finish fourth,in sayin that we still want the 3 points at Berwick.

a couple of things I cant quite get-

1. what has mcleer got to do to get a game and surely you would bring riordan off the bench when needin a win

2.why does he change keeper every few weeks,we go on and lose every time he does this ??

Re: the bottom line is .....

Not quite.Annan are away to Elgin City next week.If they win and EF lose to Berwick , both clubs are on 47 points.
Annan's last game is home to Montrose . Could come down to goal difference.
Totally agree with your comments regarding McAleer.
For whatever reason the manager persists with playing a left side player whether it be Fash , Dickson or Cook, cutting in from the right, narrowing our field of play. How good would it be to have a natural right footed winger take on a full back and expand the field of play.
Thinking about it , the last time McAleer played, was in the debacle gainst Berwick Rangers when he played LEFT WING cutting inside.
Additionally the manager also persists with 3 central midfield players. Why?
I believe that this years squad is much stronger than last seasons.
If we do get 4th place , I believe it will be in spite of the manager.

Re: the bottom line is .....

The bottom line is that if we fail to secure 4th place then Naysmith and Anderson should be sacked. Sick and tired of the same defensive, try not to lose tactics.

Agree with the last bit, far to negative, to defensive, the manager will say he plays a 4-3-3 but it is mainly a 4-5-1 with Fash left on his own upfront, at 1-1 the manger should have brought on Riordan with the last 20-30 minutes, but no, shore things up and hold on to the draw was the motto yesterday.

Not good enough when you are trying to secure a play off spot, something East Fife would have done if they had got the win rather than getting deeper and deeper in defence to hold on for a point.

Correct

Re: the bottom line is .....

He says in his interview it would have been a good point? Annan had won 1 game in 8 previous... how the fuck is that a good point? get on top and go for 3 points!

Re: the bottom line is .....

If the team was set up correctly it would have been a good 3 points. If we make the play offs I fear a doing by Stenny or Ayr. Another big game on Sat, after being destroyed by Berwick last time round I`m not hopeful.
