Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

EFSS Bid Put on Hold

The EFFS Working Group has decided to call a halt to our current campaign to buy the majority shareholding owned by Loraine Johnstone.

We have approached Loraine directly with regard to opening negotiations but she declined to do so, explaining that she had agreed a deal with the current East Fife Directors and the shares have been transferred to Bayview Fife Ltd. She is now awaiting the Directors' solicitor completing the transaction for the purchase of that company.

We had taken the direct step of contacting her after many weeks of waiting without any real news about the current directors' bid because we felt we needed clarification for all concerned.

Thank you very much to all those who supported us both financially and in kind. We will be taking steps to return all donations over the next week or two.

The opportunity may arise again in the future, either when the directors decide to sell their shares or if the Scottish Government does eventually implement a law giving supporters the right to buy their club. When that happens we will be ready to act again.

Thank you again for your interest in our campaign.

Re: EFSS Bid Put on Hold

Nothing will ever change at EF. Club is slowly being run into ground and dying and there's not much we can do. What a horrible situation to be in. I can see us being in league 2 for a while and I doubt many supporters will continue to pay £13 a pop to watch Piss poor football in a soulless stadium and a club that lacks any real ambition. Hope I'm wrong but that's how I see it.

Re: EFSS Bid Put on Hold

Loved the comment from our Chairman in the EFM when he said "We aim to hit the ground running this season" and "we aim to win the league".

I think you will find that Stirling Albion, Arbroath and Clyde have already hit the ground running for this season.

Same old, same old for East Fife again.

Re: EFSS Bid Put on Hold

Sad day for the fans.

This will likely be the final straw for many supporters.

I know when I read the email I found it very disheartening and made me ponder what the point of supporting a team with no ambition or sense of community any more if it means languishing in the depths of Scottish football for season upon season.

Didn't really come to an answer to that pondering.

The directors need to come out with an actual plan that will get the fans on board again and soon.

What do they hope for in the coming two or three seasons? What money is available? What can they offer that will add a spark of excitement to supporting our once great club again?

Will East Fife be one of the bright young lights of the lower leagues or a dinosaur club run by people from a different era?

Depressing news.

Re: EFSS Bid Put on Hold

Like many / most supporters , I am saddened that both the EFSS and the Direcors could not find it within themselves to work together in a unified bid to oust Rankine/Johnston/Twigg.
In my view, however , all interested parties with East Fife at heart were dealing with opportunists /business people who had no regard for East Fife FC its supporters and the local community..As far as I know these people did not invest 1 penny into the running costs of the club but merely looked on their initial investment for what it was, an investment-unfortunately a long-term one at that. They are business people who want a top dollar selling price.
Perhaps I am wrong , but I look upon the proposed purchase as an opportunity to rid the club of these owners/parasites.To this end, I sincerely hope that the Directors are successful in their acquisition.Privately I know that the view of at least some of the directors is that the club will not flourish until the present owners are gone.
I agree with GoF however that the Directors need to tell the supporters and perhaps potential local investors exactly what there plans are.Unfortunately , whist the current Directors are true East Fife fans who have dipped into their own pockets to enable the club survive over the past season , they are not exactly adept at public relations/communication with the supporters.
That well known supporter , Jean Veitch, wrote an excellent letter in this weeks East Fife Mail. Its main contents were :
1 Could someone at EF clarify the situation with Gary Naysmith.?
2 What is the situation with regard to the take-over?
Over to you Mr Chairman.
