Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Re USA Thanksgiving Day

Would like to extend to all expats a warm and safe Thanksgiving Holiday on Thursday 26

November.

For those who are not aware Thanksgiving is a major holiday here in the USA.

Re: Re USA Thanksgiving Day

Thanks. Same to you and yours....

Re: Re USA Thanksgiving Day

My wife has just returned from Boston where she encountered a store assistant who was looking forward to Thanksgiving. When my wife told her that we did not have such a big celebration here, the lassie then asked if we celebrated Christmas Day on the same day as they did in the USA! You couldn't make it up.

Re: Re USA Thanksgiving Day

Who are they giving thanks to? Serious question.

Re: Re USA Thanksgiving Day

In 1621, the Plymouth colonists and Wampanoag Indians shared an autumn harvest feast that is acknowledged today as one of the first Thanksgiving celebrations in the colonies. For more than two centuries, days of thanksgiving were celebrated by individual colonies and states. It wasn’t until 1863, in the midst of the Civil War, that President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national Thanksgiving Day to be held each November.

Re: Re USA Thanksgiving Day

Was that before or after you massacred the Native Americans, women and children and all? Stick your guns, Donald Trump and Thanksgiving up your bum.
