Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Nathan Austin

For those at the match on Saturday... was that booking of Austin as ridiculously wrong as it looked?
He sometimes looks exceptional jn the extracts ... like on Saturday? How good is he?

Re: Nathan Austin

He's **** don't see why people think he's good .

Re: Nathan Austin

He's ****? The stats don't lie.......not bad for an amateur player 21yr old cost ef nothing to sign but probs looking at getting 50k+ for him, when was the last time ef made pure profit on a player? Stevie Ferguson maybe?

Get your heed oot the sand rubber heed

Re: Nathan Austin

Yes.

Re: Nathan Austin

If Fash is to leave we must resist any offers until the summer if we are to have any hope of reaching the play-offs.

Re: Nathan Austin

Simon Murray left Arbroath for 50 000 in January. He hasn't made much impact at Dundee Utd. I feel Fash has a bit more about him than Murray and we should be holding out for at least 65 000 plus 10% Of any sell on. He will be a massive loss but you couldn't deny the lad the chance of full time football. Any more on the rumour of Paul Mcmanus coming home in January.

Did you make that lot up in yer head?
And McManus was done 2 years ago. Totally ineffective player these days and best left to see out his career in the juniors (which is probably where we'll end up in a few years anyway)

Of course he's ineffective he's been injured for months. He done a job for Arbroath and if he gets himself fit I feel he would certainly be a valuable edition to our squad. Couldn't care less how much money the club get for Fash as it will go to the *******s who own the club....

Re: Nathan Austin

No it will not, it will go to plug the enormous hole left by the previous chairman!
No guarantee that any transfer will go through, what if Fash doesn't want to leave!

McManus was utter pish last time he was here. Runs for 90 mins but couldn't hit a barn door from 5' and blames everyone else for his short comings.

No thanks.

Here we go again, a bad man did it and ran away. The current directors and some of the associate directors were on the board when all this badness happened. What did they do to stop it?
The directors have given no suggestion that they can raise the money required to revive the club. Their idea of balancing the books is to land a good cup tie every season. It would be funny if it wasn't so moronic. They tackled the finances by doing the only thing they could think of, selling the club's land, without even putting it up for sale to the highest bidder. They go along with everything Twigg and Rankin want. They help to protect the owners investment, to the detriment of the club's football prospects.
And it is all that bad Lee Murray's fault. Lee Murray, who came along over ten years after Rankin first got his hooks into East Fife, and used us.
Lee Murray failed, but there comes a point where continuing to blame him for the bowling club's shortcomings and the lack of any clue about what to do next just doesn't wash any longer.

Hi allan

Re: Nathan Austin

Mcmanus would be a Great signing if fit? If we sell fash we should ne looking to use the money to bolster the squad. Who is out There though wouldnt mind geting players from a league above who are not playing.

Re: Nathan Austin

Falkirk manager on bbc radio Scotland saying he is close to a deal to signing a young player with great potential who is lighting up the lower leagues. He went on to say a nominal fee will be involved and the player still to have a medical, peter Houston went onto say he would look to loan him back to the club for the remainder of the season, he just wanted him on board to get into full time football. Could this be Nathan Austin he is describing.

Re: Nathan Austin

Sounds like it could be Nathan. If we get him back on loan it should be good for East Fife and the player. Hopefully FT training helps him develop to the next level. Gary gets a lot of flack on this forum but his development work with Nathan has been 1st class.

A nominal fee? Yes it must be Fash, who else but East Fife would let a prized asset go for a pittance.

Re: Nathan Austin

it is Fash confirmed

Re: Nathan Austin

Supposed to be signing on sunday for £50k

Re: Nathan Austin

try a fair bit south of that billy

Re: Nathan Austin

Signing confirmed now and has been loaned back till the end of the season. Fair play to the lad, has worked his backside off to improve since his amateur days and is now reaping the rewards. Well done to the management team who have been a big factor in his development.

Re: Nathan Austin

Lets hope the board have had the intelligence to include a sell on clause as part of the deal so the club can be rewarded for any future sale.
