Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Ronnie Hildersley

Anyone know what he's up to these days?
A Preston NE fan is enquiring on another site. Wants to write an article on him...

Re: Ronnie Hildersley

Last I saw of him was behind the counter in the Lifestyle store in Crail.

Re: Ronnie Hildersley

Really ?

When was that ?

Re: Ronnie Hildersley

He used to run "the other" Grocers in Crail for a while (or so I was led to believe). THis was in my early days, I don't actually remember seeing him play for east fife but do remeber a shortish chubby englishman who people said was an east fife player.

Re: Ronnie Hildersley

Hildersley isn't English, he's from Kirkcaldy

Re: Ronnie Hildersley

Had a habit of doing disapperaring acts during his time with The Fife. After one such Sabbatical he turned up out of the blue to play in a friendly against Dunfermline at Buckhaven High School. This prompted one of our favourite-ever headlines for AFTN (the paper version) of ... "As if by magic, the shopkeeper appeared."

Unfortunately, I'm not sure if it made it into print or if it landed on the cutting-room floor.

Apologies to anyone young, or with no taste in classic TV, who will have no idea what I'm on about.

Re: Ronnie Hildersley

Sorry. That was just an assumption. Like I said I wasn't really too aware of who the guy was. I was only 11. Heard from somewhere that he once played for Man City, so all I had to go on was a link to an english team and him owning the shop.

There is a high likelyhood that all of this is utter pish!

Re: Ronnie Hildersley

he did play for manchester city. signed for them when he was still at kirkcaldy high school

Re: Ronnie Hildersley

Think Man. City signed him thinking he was another Franny Lee. Couldn't taken them long to scotch that myth then!
