Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Dear Sports Editor,
You may or may not be aware that East Fife Football Club are at the minute locked in a battle with their own supporters. This situation has arisen due to the dictatorial approach being displayed by the present chairman, Mr Derrick J Brown.
Following a clear the air meeting with supporters last night, which ended with neither side giving any indication that the situation was going to improve, lifelong supporter and director Mr David Marshall was left with no alternative but to resign from the board.
Mr Marshall had tabled a motion of no confidence in the present board at an earlier board meeting and was defeated.
Mr Brown eloquently speaks of his position as chairman as being "to act in the best interests of the shareholders"
A creditable statement until you check the company register and realise that the major shareholders in the club are non-other than Mr and Mrs Derrick J brown and a 9 year old girl who I shall not name for obvious reasons.
During his time as chairman this once proud club has now become a laughing stock both on and off the football field.
One of the major problems facing a club at this level is the ability to attract sponsorship at all levels. During his reign, Mr Brown has managed to disillusion more potential sponsors than you could ever imagine, myself included through his amateurish approach. If you take a quick look at the clubs official website, you will notice that they employ an award winning chef. However, this same chef spends most Saturdays twiddling his thumbs as there are no customers to prepare for. Arolls royce with no wheels will go nowhere!
Although the club are in a fairly secure financial position at the minute, it is only a matter of time before a financial crisis appears.
The supporters of this proud club DO NOT expect to be winning every week.
They accept that some seasons will bring poor fortune and lowly league positions.
They accept that the club must not be run at a loss as the whole existance may be put in jeopardy
However, the supporters of East Fife Football Club DO NOT accept the club being run by a dictator who is not prepared to listen to the people who pay the wages, the supporters themselves. In lower league football, the last statement IS true.
