Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Fifers must terminate horror run
EAST FIFE will try to end one of the worst runs in the club’s history by taking three points from MONTROSE this afternoon at New Bayview.

The Fifers are just ahead of the eighth-placed Gable Endies in the league but have gone seven games without even taking a point, since they last tasted success with a 2-1 win over Cowdenbeath on January 2.

An eighth straight defeat would be unthinkable to caretaker manager Greg Shaw, who pointed to Elgin’s win over league leaders Stenhousemuir on Saturday as proof of how tough the third division has become.

“Each team can beat each other but I’m really looking forward to the Montrose game,” he said.

“There will be added spice as we have some ex-Montrose players in our squad—Kerr Dodds, Paul Doyle and Elliot Smith, and Kris Brash will be coming back here, so it makes for a good game.

“We know how to play against them—As the home team our emphasis will be on attack, and we’ll take it from there.

“We’ve done a bit of re-jigging lately and it would be nice to end the third quarter of the season by taking a victory.

“It would give us something to build on for the final run-in.”

Greig McDonald and Craig Condie will be out through injury, but Craig Smart and Paul Doyle should be fit after picking up knocks this week.

Defender Marco Pelosi sat out the 2-1 defeat at Arbroath through suspension and will again be missing.

Off the field, the Fifers haven’t had their problems to seek either in recent weeks and the protests against chairman Derrick Brown are expected to continue at New Bayview today.

A group of season ticket holders will vent their anger inside the ground at kick-off time, while supporters are also expected to gather outside the stadium during the match.

Re: Courier Today

what's the palns for the season-ticket holders venting their fraustration?

Re: Courier Today

I-10,
You can read my intentions on attendance 332. Will be present at the rest of the home games, but on the mound not in the ground. Probably never buy another season ticket for Bayview. You know you can even drink and smoke while watching the game, unlike in Herr Broon's nanny state. Certainly a more relaxed atmosphere. Can you ask Derrick to autograph the match balls before the next game, we can read them when they come ower the dyke. After all he was in the team photo pre-season
