Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

A Tale Of Two Chairman

Derrick:- Takes over team with standing room only at New Bayview. Crowd 2,000 plus. Kenny Deuchar scores winning goal to clinch promotion. Team now plays in front of around 200 fans depending on away support.
Brooks Mileson:- Takes over Gretna playing in front of about 200 fans. Puts money into the club. Yesterday Gretna play in front of 2,800 fans and win through to the semi-final of the Scottish cup. Scorer the aforesaid Kenny Deuchar.
Draw your own conclusions Derrick !!!

Re: A Tale Of Two Chairman

Mileson is also worth £30m plus and still manages to "bring himself down" to the fans' level too - he was standing among them yesterday - something which I couldn't really see Brrrrooooon doing...

Re: A Tale Of Two Chairman

I think it's nearer £80m.

On Off the Ball yesterday, he told Tam Cowan that he had named a Donkey after him (he has an animal sanctuary). Maybe we should ask him if he has an Ass amongst his refugees, wonder what we could call him!

Re: A Tale Of Two Chairman

Its easy to be every supporters pal when you're throwing money at the team, wait till he gets to the premier league and things aren't going Gretna's way.

Dundee Utd have a rich chairman who's pumped a lot into the team but I bet the united fans wouldn't take too kindly to him standing alongside them at games.

Re: A Tale Of Two Chairman

Brooks isn't Gretna chairman as often misquoted by journo's and fans alike, he is the majority shareholder in the club.

So there!

Re: A Tale Of Two Chairman

Eddie Thompson, as well as having a fraction of the fortune of Brooks Mileson, regularly sat with the Dundee United fans before he took over as chairman

Re: A Tale Of Two Chairman

Brown, Hamilton and Mackay made a brief appearance on the terracing at Ochilview during the last game in the second division, before returning to the refuge of the stand ten minutes before full time, as relegation to the third division was being confirmed.

Re: A Tale Of Two Chairman

I remember they stood on the terracing for the Berwick game as well, can't say there was too much cameraderie with the fans mind you.
