Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Sunday Mail article "Yet another protest against Derrick Browm"

STENNY STUNNED BY HEAD BOY GREIG
EAST FIFE 2 STENH'MUIR 1
Chris Sanderson At New Bayview
A DOUBLE from Greig McDonald blew the title race wide open as the Fifers stunned the league leaders.
The midfielder struck twice with headers as the home side kept their faint playoff hopes alive with a well-deserved win.
McDonald struck just seconds after the break and his second came in 56 minutes before John Paul McBride pulled a goal back from the penalty spot for Stenny.
The game started with around 150 East Fife supporters staging yet another protest against chairman Derrick Brown, watching the entire 90 minutes from outside the ground.
In two minutes Paul Murphy picked up a loose ball on the halfway line and sent Iain Diack homing in on goal. But the striker's shot was brilliantly turned wide by John Dodds.
And the home side had another escape in nine minutes when Colin Cramb teed up Jim Mercer whose snap shot was brilliantly blocked by Dodds.
The ball fell to Paul McGrilllen whose drive was deflected wide by Andy Campbell.
The Fifers has their their first effort at goal in 15 minutes.
Elliott Smith played a short corner to Paul Hampshire who swung over a cross that John Bradford headed just wide.
And the home side went close again in 24 minutes when a Hampshire free-kick flew just wide of a post. Stenny stepped up a gear and superb skill from McBride created an opening for McGrillen in 33 minutes.
But the striker's drive flw just inches wide.
Then Dodds palmed a dangerous free-kick from McBride over the bar.
The Warriors ended the half on the attack and the home keeper had be in top form.
Dodds thwarted McGrillen in 39 minutes after McBride had carved open the Fif ers defence and from the corner he superbly blocked Greg Denham's header with a superb block.
Amazingly East Fife break the deadlock just seconds after the break.
Kevin Gordon surged down the flank and hoisted over a cross that eluded Willie McCulloch, with McDonald on hand to force the ball home.
The Fifers could easily have wrapped up the points in a frantic spell.
McDonald shot just over the bar then the Warriors had a major let-off in 55 minutes when Bradford left Denham trailing.
He forced keeper McCulloch to come racing off his line.
But the striker could only watch in agony as his looping chip smacked off the bar.
Luckily for Stenny right-back Steve Fallon was on hand to clear the danger at the expense of a corner that led to to the Fifers' second.
McCulloch failed to deal with Hampshire's flag-kick and after a bout of head tennis McDonald was on hand to nod the ball home almost on the goal-line.
Stenny threw on teenage wing wizard David Temple-man and striker Tommy Sinclair as they fought to get back into the game.
And the switch almost paid dividends in 70 minutes when Templeman fired an overhead kick just wide from McBride's corner.
Stenny were thrown a lifeline in 74 minutes with a goal from the penalty spot.
There was little danger as McGrillen was being ushered away from goal until he was flattened by Campbell.
McBride tucked home the spot-kick, sending Dodds the wrong way.
The home side badly needed a goal to clinch the points and substitute Craig Smart spurned two great chances inside a minute.
In 80 minutes the striker had only McCulloch to beat but fluffed his shot.
Then the Fifers hitman rifled a shot wide after being superbly picked out by Hampshire just seconds later.
The Warriors threw everything forward in an attempt to salvage a point but the home side held out for a deserved win.
HERO
GREIG McDonald was of Bayview as headers helped sink the league leaders. His first cam seconds after the break while his second took advantage of poor defending.
VILLAIN
WILLIE J McCULLOCHW had a nightmare afternoon. The Warriors keeper was indecisive throughout and was at fault for both goals, failing to deal with crosses. Won't be sticking this one in his scrapbook.

The press highlighting the cause again.

Broons backers cannot ignore this any longer.

Re: Sunday Mail article "Yet another protest against Derrick Browm"

Am I right that the SFA are to decide upon the Brown/Rix affair tomorrow?

Hopefully this will generate more anti-Brown press.

METHIL FANS PROTEST

Disgruntled East Fife fans took their protests to the streets yesterday with around 150 joining a march demanding changes at the Methil club.
Chairman Derrick Brown was the focus of the fans ire with a fair chunk wanting him to stand down despite a recent string of wins.Their complaint is that the Fife club has low ambitions and is not listening to supporters view about how the club is being run.
The march started out from Leven town centre with the Methil and district pipe band in the lead, and good humoured fans of all ages carrying placards and flags.
after reaching the ground, firebrand young protester Matthew Mclean addressed the fans and said, "East Fife is bigger than Derrick Brown and we are here today to show that.He is ruining our club - this club belongs to the people here today on this march and noy him.
" We have had meetings and he just speaks down to us and says there's no crisis, but what is this march about?"
After the march, the rebel fans gathered on a nearby embankment to watch their team and shout slogans.
The ground's tannoy played keep right on to the end of the road as the marchers approached the ground and The Fool On The Hill as they gathered.
One fan, dressed as a chicken wearing a "taxi for brown"t-shirt,pushed a wheelbarrow during the marchand, later, somehow managed to get into the match against Stenhousemuir. He trundled his barrow along the by-line for a few moments before stewards cried fowl and escorted him from the ground.
Mr Brown was unavailable for comment, but board member Willie gray said "We had a great result today and that is the important thing. The board completly backs Mr Brown"
