Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Attendance 375???

I took a photo of the stand during yesterday's game. Printed out on a sheet of A4 paper, it's quite easy to actually count the crowd.
There were 175 paying spectators in the home end and 43 in the away end, which makes 218.
Even when you add the 26 sitting in the home directors seats and the 8 in the away directors seats it still only adds up to 252, which is 123 short of the official attendance.
Did they count the supporters on the mound as well

Re: Attendance 375???

You should send this photo to the papers and make your point about the attendance, some might take an interest.

Re: Attendance 375???

SEND IT TO THE SFA!

Re: Attendance 375???

I believe that teams have always dodged giving the true attandances, tax dodge or what, I don't know. A pal of mine who is a Rovers scumbag told me that they too gave unrealistic crowd attendances when they were going through all their troubles.

For our part we (East Fife) have been giving false accounts of attendances for years, all fans will remeber the last few home games in our promotion winning season. Playing against Morton it was standing room only, in the away end, as the police prefered to have extra fans in the ground, where they could be policed, rather than having them unsupervised outside the ground and the home end was full too yet the crowd was well under the grounds capacity.

The game against Queens Park was a sell out too yet I believe the attendance was something in the region of 1900 which is a bit short of a full house.

Its not just because of the current situation that the figures have been tampered with, its been going on for years.

Or it could be that Fat guys count as two!!

Re: Attendance 375???

That may be the case, but it's still fcuking ILLEGAL to lie about attendances. Get the photae sent!
I'd love to hear DB trying to excuse it..

Re: Attendance 375???

This could be like the Brown/Rix question where it would probably have been better not to ask.

Am I the only one who thinks we could be opening up another can of worms.

Re: Attendance 375???

We did a count yesterday both by eye and by binoculars and counted a total of 357 inside the ground.

That included all directors and press and hospitality people.

Remember, the Club are entitled to include season ticket holders whether they are present or not, so a figure of around 375 may have been correct.

But that's still counting every fucker!

Re: Attendance 375???

The conclusion we must draw from this is that there were 123 people having a pish when Stan counted the crowd

Cut and paste the link to a photo of the crowd, taken just after start of the game

Re: Attendance 375???

Follow this link for another photo, again taken after the game had started, showing the whole stand.
Gof - there's no way there are 357 people in this photo!

Re: Attendance 375???

If there is consistant over inflating of figures, perhaps this should be reported to Finacial services Authority. It could be a method of laundering money
